A person thinks broadly but not always precisely; they see grand ideas but often lose sight of specifics. An aspect is read from degrees and orb in a specific chart, not from its name: [calculate your natal chart and see your squares](https://app.astroway.info/en/tools/natal) with exact orbs and the full list of aspects. --- ### Interpretation by *Het Monster* A person with the Mercury — Jupiter square tends to **overestimate their own thoughts**—elevating them to the level of truth, even though putting these ideas into practice is difficult. They lack **planning, attention to detail, and consistency**. Thinking can be unstructured: an excess of enthusiasm without practical foundation. Often, such people **promise more than they can deliver**. They are sincere in their intentions, full of good ideas, but they lack **prudence and caution in their words**. Due to excessive openness, they may inadvertently **disclose confidential information** or find themselves in situations where they **trust the wrong people**—for example, when signing documents or agreements. With a strong influence of Saturn (through aspects or chart placements), these traits soften: more organization and constructiveness appear. But without this balance, the square often manifests as **a disconnect between good intentions and real actions**. --- ### Interpretation by *Kathrin Obbe* A square or opposition between Mercury and Jupiter indicates **a lack of mental discipline**. A person thinks broadly but not deeply; their intellectual energy dissipates into superficiality or excessive optimism. It may manifest as **overconfidence in knowledge**—a tendency to exaggerate, bluff, or demonstrate “know-it-all” behavior. Often, they **confuse truth with conviction** or deliberately distort facts to appear more authoritative. In the worst case, this creates **mental arrogance**, where a person devalues others’ opinions or spreads dubious information while being convinced they are right. Obbe writes that such a person may either **elevate someone else’s lie to the status of truth** or **use distorted facts to achieve personal gain or influence**. Eventually, when the moment comes to verify results, they feel **disappointment, resentment, and dissatisfaction with themselves**—because reality does not match their expectations. --- ### In modern applied astrology The Mercury — Jupiter square is an aspect of **excessive thinking**. A person seeks knowledge, language, and ideas but risks losing clarity and focus. They may teach others without verifying their own facts or inspire with words while lacking a real action plan. This aspect develops **mental flexibility and philosophical insight**, but only after recognizing one’s own limitations. Working with it involves learning to **listen as much as one speaks**, **verify sources**, and **know where to stop before exaggeration begins**. At its highest level, the Mercury — Jupiter square produces a **brilliant speaker, teacher, or thinker** capable of combining Jupiter’s breadth of vision with Mercury’s analytical precision. At its lowest, it turns a person into a **verbal juggler** who speaks convincingly but does not always understand what they are talking about. Its main task is to **turn conversations into real actions** and **knowledge into wisdom**. ### Astro Way items - [Add to cart](https://astroway.info/en/kvadratura-merkuriy-yupiter/?add-to-cart=24865) ### [Karmic Astrology](https://astroway.info/en/shop/karmichna-astrologiya/) $50 ≈ 2 299 ₴ [More details](https://astroway.info/en/shop/karmichna-astrologiya/) - [Add to cart](https://astroway.info/en/kvadratura-merkuriy-yupiter/?add-to-cart=30457) ### [Natal Chart](https://astroway.info/en/shop/natalna-karta/) $100 ≈ 4 598 ₴ [More details](https://astroway.info/en/shop/natalna-karta/) - [Add to cart](https://astroway.info/en/kvadratura-merkuriy-yupiter/?add-to-cart=30595) ### [Birth Book - Digital PDF](https://astroway.info/en/shop/birth-book-digital/) $49 $39 ≈ 1 793 ₴ [More details](https://astroway.info/en/shop/birth-book-digital/) - [Select options](https://astroway.info/en/shop/astroway-pro/) ### [Astroway PRO](https://astroway.info/en/shop/astroway-pro/) from $4.99 ≈ 229 ₴ [More details](https://astroway.info/en/shop/astroway-pro/) [Go to store →](https://astroway.info/en/shop/) ✨ ### Explore astrology further Free calculators, natal chart, online Tarot and other self-discovery tools.
