Bloggers – 3: Natalia’s Final Blog from Riga

Hello, dear readers!
Many of us experience what’s known as “Groundhog Day,” when life isn’t moving forward, yet routine remains unsatisfying. The first thing that comes to mind to stop running in circles is to change our harmful habits.

For example, if I like lounging on the couch, now I’ll use that time for exercise instead… This is a simple example. I decided to think deeper and identify those patterns in my life that I don’t perceive as habits, but rather accept as inherent traits of my character.
For instance, I have a tendency to become attached to everything and cling stubbornly to things that are long past their time—whether it’s a cluttered office, old unnecessary belongings, or relationships with certain people. It’s simply a panic fear of change and nostalgia for the past. Like everyone else, I go through favorable and unfavorable periods in life. One behavioral pattern during crises was familiar and comfortable to me—just waiting out the latest depression and continuing to live as I always had. But finally, I decided to make changes. This summer, I completely transformed my lifestyle, guided by the principle that things couldn’t possibly get any worse… I stopped fearing solitude and intentionally withdrew from relationships for a certain period. I realized my independence—started living alone and ceased depending on anyone. Finally, I faced the truth and admitted that I needed a psychotherapist’s help to work through childhood traumas that had been affecting me until now. Time has passed, life is improving, but now on an entirely new level. And this new life, free from the ballast of the past, suits me much better.
Participating in this contest has also become a kind of experiment for me. Previously, I was a very private person and didn’t let anyone into my life. Now, I’ve chosen honesty and openness, and I was genuinely curious to see how far I could go in openly writing about my personal life. Thank you for reading and commenting—it was truly a pleasure.
They say miracles happen to those who believe in them. For the coming year, I wish you more miracles in your life! And don’t be afraid to make changes—after all, there’s a reason for the saying that nothing in life is constant except change. Wishing you luck and success!
