All Monkey years over the past 60 years have been marked by revolutionary events. This was stated during a press conference at “Obozrevatel” by astrologers Olena Osypenko and Yuri Buyanov.
“In 1956, the 20th Congress of the CPSU took place, which dismantled the cult of Stalin’s personality. As a possible consequence, the Hungarian Revolution occurred, which was brutally suppressed. The next Monkey year—1968—saw another revolution, the ‘Prague Spring,’ which was also crushed. Then in 1980, the ‘Solidarity’ trade union emerged, leading to a change of power in Poland. In 1992—the final collapse of the Soviet Union, civil wars in Karabakh, Tajikistan, and Yugoslavia, and the dissolution of Czechoslovakia into two separate states.”
In this context, Buyanov noted: “What the next Monkey year will bring, time will tell. But I want to say that the Monkey is an unpredictable animal, especially for tyrants and dictators.” “The upcoming year will be the year of the Fire Monkey. The Monkey is a restless creature. One could say the motto of this year might be: ‘If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans,'” he added.
The astrologer also emphasized: “The New Year according to the Eastern calendar will not begin on January 1, but on February 8. He also remarked that Christians celebrating a purely Buddhist holiday appears rather controversial. ‘If you plan to celebrate the New Year according to the Chinese calendar, don’t forget that you are, after all, an Orthodox Christian. If you become a Buddhist, then this symbol will help you. But if you place a monkey figurine next to your icon—this will look strange,'” he said.
