Jupiter Square Pluto Transit
(Transit. Jupiter → Natal Pluto)
Het Monster. Aspects
Religious or philosophical dogmatism, rejection of new, modern forms. Desire to create new social institutions, reform religion and pedagogy based on old, long-forgotten forms. Spiritual arrogance, stubbornness; for this, they are disliked. A constant craving for great deeds can close the path to happiness.
Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary
Opposition, square: a rift between the superficial and the deep, creating dissatisfaction and disharmony. A person is unable to cope with their demands and is often disappointed. In a favorable case, they may assert their positions by overcoming Pluto’s mysteries, but in an unfavorable one, they may destroy laws and rules established in society.
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Jupiter square: True greatness requires not proof, but measure. The Jupiter square promises the planet much… unfortunately, most often these promises remain unfulfilled. In the areas governed by the planet, a person feels their greatness, not only potential but actual, yet others usually do not see it or doubt it, and the first manifestation somehow never succeeds. The Jupiter square gives the planet expansion, but not the kind a person desires: either in the wrong direction, or in a style alien to them, or simply not what they expected; at least, that is how it seems to the person. This square (which can be called the Lucifer aspect) fosters the temptation of pride, superficiality, and too easily obtaining what is not entirely what the person wanted, and not at all what they need for evolutionary development. In the areas of the planet, a person is characterized by a constant superficial interest in “higher matters,” philosophical generalizations, and abstract-religious approaches, but they tend to stop precisely at the point where something truly important and interesting begins for them—something that does not come as a luxurious gift or effort. For example, a Venus-Jupiter square with an accented Jupiter can produce a person who attracts a great deal of love, appears beautiful, interesting, and unusual at first glance, but in concrete romantic relationships turns out to be entirely self-absorbed, full of their own beauty and general splendor, and utterly incapable (and unwilling) to spare even a moment’s thought for the hopelessness of social (let alone emotional and sexual) connections, though arrogance does not diminish. Karma-wise, this aspect signifies the need (in the areas of the planet) to learn to treat gifts and doors of fate that open with great care and caution, to understand that they imply further work and are ultimately meant for the world, not the person themselves. At a low level, a person tends to (if there is even the slightest opportunity) play the role of a generous benefactor, which they fail at miserably, as their self-interest and inadequacy or uselessness of their charity are transparently visible, and their overall clumsiness evokes more irritation than pity or gratitude (the latter). Working through this aspect grants the rare ability to wisely use one’s luck, abandon false opportunities and temptations, and receive the priceless gift of true spiritual aid, as well as the ability to see similar problems in others and guide them (in the areas of the planet) onto the true path by showing them the karmic role of their temptations and delusions.
Pluto square: Angelic wings grow where the cross of fate has rubbed raw. The influence of the Pluto square manifests as a certain discomfort for the person regarding the sacrifices in the areas of the planet that fate will demand of them; at least, that is how it will seem to the person themselves. They must reconcile themselves to the idea that these sacrifices will be demanded at an inopportune moment and will bring unpleasant consequences of a seemingly completely unnecessary and irrelevant nature—but such, unfortunately, is the nature of this karmic program. The Pluto square is the aspect of Job, which, fortunately, does not always go as far. The manifestations of the planetary principle in the external world will sharply dissatisfy the person, and they will feel compelled to impose order in this regard, for which they will need corresponding power. However, the karmic plan is precisely the opposite: to bring purity and order to the areas of the planetary principle within the person’s inner world and subconscious, for which they must gain power over their instincts and lower impulses belonging to the planet. Until the person becomes aware of this, they will repeatedly face difficult sacrifices and fate that will pursue them to the exact extent that the person invokes it—whether unconsciously or consciously, intentionally or unintentionally, from the best or worst motives. A crucial point is that in the area of the planet, the person wields a magnifying glass that vividly reveals their (and others’) smallest imperfections and flaws. This aspect offers great opportunities for inner development and self-purification, while simultaneously presenting the world with black teachers of a dictatorial type who destroy the low and mediocre manifestations of the planetary principle in the external world through power, fire, and sword, leaving only the most refined (which go unnoticed) or, at times, mere ashes. At an average level, the person is characterized by harsh behavior with elements of crude authority and nihilism toward others, combined with a desire to master the planetary principle themselves. Internally, the person desperately wants to show the world their example, but it simply does not work out, or (in their view) the world is simply not ready and thus incapable of seeing the perfection presented to it.
