Your child is thoughtful, fair, and restrained in expressing affection. They may seem inhibited, shy, and have low self-esteem. They might believe that they need to achieve something significant and very concrete in order to be loved. Parents may exert emotional pressure. Sometimes they may feel fear that love does not exist at all, or that love causes pain. Parents should help them recognize the boundaries they build themselves in their resistance to closeness. They themselves should provide the child with sufficient warmth and love, without emotional pressure.
