Having won a friend, do not rush into reciprocation. This person feels an influx of strength, energy, and a need for action within a group; empty words and gossip do not satisfy them, and they react with clear indignation toward idlers and parasites within the group. In case of Mars being afflicted, they may enter into conflict with such individuals. Karmically, this placement of Mars indicates the necessity to work extensively for the benefit of the group, utilizing and materializing the energy of the group egregore—easier with harmonious aspects to Mars, more difficult with its affliction, when group aggression toward the individual may occur (always somehow motivated by their inappropriate behavior or misinterpretation of interactions with the group). At a lower level, the person may direct their energy toward disrupting group work, typical of an afflicted Mars; or perform the role of a group enforcer; or actively claim the results of group labor, eventually leading to conflicts with the collective, characterized by projections of responsibility—especially if Mars opposes planets in the 5th house. If Mars is not strongly afflicted, this person is a reliable companion you can count on in times of trouble (Venus in the 11th house will gladly help you, provided you are doing well, at least from a social standpoint). They willingly and enthusiastically assist a friend in any matter, especially those involving energetic expenditure (details shown by Mars’ aspects). Friendly relationships, particularly with the same gender, are marked by roughness and directness. When afflicted, sudden outbursts of anger and direct aggression are possible, though usually not directed straight at the friend, but rather toward the space around them.

Involvement in group life. You want to be accepted by society, to feel like part of a group. But you also desire to lead, to stand at the prow of the social ship and steer its course, and as a result, other group members may become indignant or resist this persistent tendency. Work to become a vital representative of your organization, not its sole voice, and you will achieve fuller realization of your goals. Your task is to use the spontaneity of your desires to unite the group and resolve its problems—further defining its purpose—while avoiding unnecessary battles or foolish quarrels. Appropriate behavior. Although you possess a natural sense of proper conduct in society and can behave with utmost virtue when you choose, your strong spirit sometimes gets you into trouble. You reject social conventions and may end up dancing with a lampshade on your head. This may create genuine excitement, but don’t forget the trap; social rejection is extremely painful for you. Remember your persistence; if someone criticizes your behavior, you will defend yourself very aggressively, only occasionally resolving the issue. Try not to attack others when you see them behaving appropriately. That is their business, not yours. Your task is to make your pride an ally, not an enemy. Friendship and social circle. Your friendships experience conflicts, sometimes even passionate ones. You want to penetrate to the very heart of friendship, so be careful not to hurt yourself or others. If the chart overall suggests a gentler nature, you might choose friends who create conflict. But remember, in either case, it is happening within your life. You are a soldier of the social territorial army, ready to fight for your friends—either defending shared goals or protecting them from outsiders. When you are in close relationship with someone, your loyalty is very strong, though it may shift with changes in friendships. If you accidentally lose friends, don’t be distressed—make new ones. Collaborative creativity. You view other group members as players in a competitive game of creativity, and you work with them more through opposition than cooperation. You enjoy the excitement and challenges to your ego, but remember that group members may occasionally react negatively to your pressure. Keep in mind that creativity is truly a shared process, and group members are comrades-in-arms. Your creative role is to guide the group toward new goals and reveal new directions for development. Receiving love. You truly desire to be loved. You want to be desired, and you are willing to open up to make it happen. This is paradoxical, because the very nature of this experience requires a state of receptivity, so your opening up must be subtle and unobtrusive, not overtly exposed; magnetic, not aggressive. If love is compared to a dance, you are a master of leading, even though it may seem as if you are being led. You feel loved when your admirer fulfills your wishes, when behavior is open, strong, and passionate. Persistence appears to you as a sign of love, as does protection—and above all, passion. Even anger is sometimes interpreted as an expression of love, because you understand how closely these primary emotions can intertwine. Gentleness cannot conquer you. Your task is to spark the fire in others, and once ignited, find a way to keep it burning. Mere smoldering is insufficient; the flame must burn brightly.
Universal Interpretation. Planets in Houses
Such a person works hard to achieve their material and spiritual goals. This is a societal leader and a natural propagandist. They easily gain friends and acquaintances, but just as easily lose them due to their persistence and excessive demands in relationships. They are energetic and full of enthusiasm, yet can be very vulnerable and overly sensitive, making them prone to quick disappointments. Much of their energy is invested in creative activities. They should strive to cultivate caution in their actions and respect for others. They are energetic, proactive, and ambitious in friendships and group activities. Active and enthusiastic friends support them in their affairs, work, and professional aspirations. These individuals often show skill in mechanics and enjoy inventing new technical devices. Frequently, they dedicate all their strength to reforming society. Debilitation of the planet indicates dissatisfaction with the existing order, revolutionary tendencies, and a propensity not toward improving life, but toward overthrowing authorities. This leads to numerous quarrels and disagreements with group members. Impulsiveness in communication with friends may result in physical injuries and traumatic confrontations. Relationships with acquaintances are filled with disagreements and misunderstandings. A combative spirit causes cooling of relations with many friends and eventual breakups. The fame of such individuals is highly questionable; their names are often associated with loud scandals and noisy troubles. They have few true friends, and even toward them, they tend not to show care. The main cause of failure is lack of restraint and impulsiveness. When the planet is debilitated, loss of acquaintances and many difficulties may arise due to the unreliability of friends. The happiness of such individuals is unstable; they often risk losing their good reputation. They do not raise their own children particularly successfully. Their social life is restless and eccentric, thus threatening many unpleasantnesses, mistakes, and conflicts. The family life of such a person is filled with troubles and separations; relationships with subordinates and superiors are more than problematic. Boiling passions and disturbing inner impulses may weaken health. Serious financial losses are possible due to failures in legal proceedings. There is often a marked interest in esotericism and astrology. Aggressiveness combines with diligence and productivity. Life sometimes separates such a person from relatives, yet they themselves become very popular, so their family learns about them from others. Often, such people become patrons and benefactors, indirectly achieving the desired popularity.
B. Huber. Mars, Venus, Moon, and Neptune in the Twelve Houses
The libido planets Mars and Venus exert only superficial, fleeting influences in partnership relationships and are decisive factors only in isolated cases. We will become convinced of this below when examining mutual aspects between partners. Only when the libido planets of two partners form more or less exact major aspects to each other is it entirely likely that sex is the primary connecting force. But when the libido planets of one partner aspect any of the other planets of the other partner, sex does not dominate as strongly. The latter case is much more common. Libido planets play different roles in men’s and women’s charts. In a man’s chart, Mars symbolizes the individual’s own libido and is therefore integrated into his “I” image. This also applies to the sexual sphere. Both sexual experience and personal sexual image must meet very high moral standards. A missionary tendency is also observed, though not in an extreme or deliberate form: we attribute to sexuality a significance that transcends the physical. We may even ascribe to it spiritual or therapeutic qualities. For example, a psychotherapist inclined to this tendency might enter into a sexual relationship with a client who has serious difficulties in this area. He does so with the firm conviction that he is helping her overcome her problems. As a result, he may face serious troubles, even legal prosecution. Yet, even knowing this, he will still take such a step, driven by an inner conviction of its beneficial, liberating effect on the client. Such a person is ready to use their sexuality for influence, which they regard as healing and therefore noble. This is merely one example of the influence of the 11th house. Another, far more probable variant, is the suppression of sexuality and a tendency toward complete moderation. Sex is considered something belonging to a lower order of things. This position, too, is marked by its dogmatism. Libido planets in the 11th house find it difficult to achieve balance. Very often, they channel their energy into systems based on moral and ethical principles, giving rise to a peculiar form of fanatical religiosity. In such cases, the absence of a love life is frequently compensated by sexual fantasies—especially characteristic of fire signs—or verbal sex, reading romantic novels, etc. We are attracted to people who hold important positions in science or have achieved notable success in any humanitarian field; we would like to marry someone intellectually superior to us and would be fascinated by them.
