Opposition of Mercury: Before you speak, think: do your words not betray your thought? The opposition to Mercury poses the problem of the relationship between the Planet’s principle and rational thinking. One should not think that a strong Mercury in the chart gives intelligence: the latter is determined rather by the general evolutionary level, and as for Mercury, intelligence depends more on its working out than on its aspects. At a low level of working out, a dominant Mercury suppresses the Planetary principle with mental clichés, profanes it, and mercilessly distorts it. For example, with an opposition of Mercury to the Moon, an emphasis on Mercury leads to a person thinking entirely formally, in precise accordance with social clichés: in order to be healthy and happy, one should do gymnastics in the morning, get married at 20, have three children, and work without straining, without straining the correspondence of one’s fate to the specified scheme, completely unable to hear the true voice of their needs, even the most primitive ones, except in those cases when the Moon decisively appropriates the main emphasis in this opposition to itself, completely switching off Mercury, or rather, subordinating it to itself, that is, allowing into the person’s head only those thoughts which are then thought, then and then, thinking, then and then, thinking, then and then when you think, then and the person themself, and then, thinks that then, and the thought itself, and then, and the thought itself, of obsessive thoughts about food or primitive, but sweet sex, which sharply lowers the evolutionary level of their behavior or leads to strong frustrations, neuroses, or depression. Here, the working out goes through clarifying the role of thought in the manifestations of the Planetary principle, which should generally be directed by it, but not controlled in every detail and even less so governed or replaced by crude mental schemes. On the other hand, thought can help both the development of new directions and the materialization of the Planetary principle, and should not become its obedient servant, in which the person will be convinced more than once, analyzing the unthinkable chaos that arises after the prolonged domination of the Planet’s principle over the mercurial. At a high level, the Planetary principle receives a stable channel into the mental plane, and the very thoughts that the person needs for the development of the Planetary principle come to their head – this feeling of the obedience of thought and speech cannot be confused with anything; it gives, in corresponding situations, a feeling of absolute self-confidence (those around begin to reason about stable and conscious about the incomprehensible and conscious about the stable language of a worked-out opposition). Opposition of Chiron: Going too deep into yourself, you risk coming out on the opposite side. The opposition of Chiron poses two main tasks for the Planet: the qualitative expansion of its principle and its materialization in those moments which were previously considered subtle, most subtle, and completely elusive. At a low level, however, Chiron gives not expansion and not materialization, but chaos and a dead end of development. If at a given moment the emphasis in the opposition is on the Planet, and the person identifies with its principle, then Chiron reveals its presence in the external world, creating in the spheres connected with the Planet an incredible bustle, disorder, unthinkable (often very original) obstacles and dead ends, the sense and cause of which the person is completely unable to understand, and which are designed to force them to reconsider their views on the Planet’s principle and master it in a significantly broader variant, that is, essentially to move to the next level of working out the Planet. If they do not do this, then the external circumstances develop in such a way that the person loses identification with the Planet’s principle, the latter is exteriorized and manifests in the external world, beyond the former boundaries of reach (thus a pilot becomes an airport worker), and the main emphasis in the opposition shifts to Chiron, which, having established itself in the inner world, gives a feeling of chaos in the sphere of the Planet’s principle, a loss of stable views and often a feeling of an internal blind alley, accompanied by despair. The working out here goes through the acceptance and mastery by the Planetary principle of the paradoxes of Chiron, while it jokes in the external world, which gives the Planet (and the person in the spheres of its influence) extraordinary, on the verge of reality, possibilities and talents that will amaze everyone (and the person themself included) with the force of their persuasiveness. A worked-out Chiron is very material, and the working out of its opposition gives an interesting variant of the talent for stable non-trivial vision and creativity in the spheres connected with the Planet. For example, working out the opposition of Chiron to Pluto (which will cost the person themself a great deal) gives extraordinary critical abilities; it is very difficult to walk away from the witty, though sharp, remarks of this person or to repress them into the subconscious, so accurate, fair, and convincing are they. For the true working out of the opposition to Chiron, deep inner work and the mastery of conscious control of the subconscious programs connected with the spheres of influence of the Planet are necessary.
