Opposition Sun – Chiron

Opposition of the Sun: Before fulfilling an intention, one must understand to what extent it is truly one’s own. The opposition of the Sun actualizes for the planet the issue of its relationship with the human will and the various imperative circumstances that arise along its path. The mere presence of a major aspect between the Sun and a planet means that its principle will never manifest independently of the person’s will or the determining circumstances that shape their behavior; the opposition additionally indicates a certain opposition between these principles, often accompanied by the externalization of one of them. At a low level, this provokes conflict when a person forcibly resists one or another external manifestation of the planet’s principle, or, conversely, external conditions suppress the internal manifestations of the planetary principle with which the person identifies. For example, with the Sun in opposition to Mars, a person will experience various conflicts and battles with the outside world (at a higher level—with themselves), but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that they come in “two types”: in the first case, the person accentuates and interiorizes the Sun’s principle, opposing their will and composure to their own external self and initiative; in the second, they adopt an aggressive Martian stance and actively fight against an imperative hostile will, effectively submitting to its initiative—thus lacking their own. With the Sun in opposition to the Moon, a person constantly battles with themselves, and the people they occasionally clash with are essentially surrogate figures embodying their will and ego, which this aspect so urgently needs to learn to cooperate with and understand. If they emphasize the Moon—i.e., adopt the ego’s position—they immediately threaten to destroy their own “house,” depriving themselves of family and sustenance (or so it seems to them). If they adopt the Sun’s position—i.e., activate their will and initiative—they act in a way that painfully suppresses their vital interests (though they cannot explain why this happens). Working through this aspect grants extraordinary stability in life—for instance, a woman who can heal her husband of alcoholism or mental illness and then raise wonderful children with him together.
Opposition of Chiron: By going too deeply into yourself, you risk emerging from the opposite side. The opposition of Chiron presents two main tasks for the planet: the qualitative expansion of its principle and its materialization in areas previously considered subtle, the most refined, and entirely elusive. At a low level, however, Chiron does not provide expansion or materialization but instead chaos and developmental deadlock. If, at this moment, the emphasis in the opposition lies on the planet and the person identifies with its principle, Chiron manifests its presence in the external world, creating in the spheres related to the planet incredible turmoil, disorder, unimaginable (and often highly original) obstacles, and dead ends whose meaning and cause elude the person. Their task is to revise their views on the planet’s principle and master it in a significantly broader form—essentially, to advance to the next level of working with the planet. If they fail to do so, external circumstances arise in such a way that the person loses their identification with the planet’s principle; the latter becomes externalized and appears in the outside world, beyond former limits of accessibility (for example, a pilot becomes an airfield worker). The main emphasis in the opposition then shifts to Chiron, which, having taken root internally, consolidates entrenched views and often a sense of inner deadlock accompanied by despair. Working through this involves the planet’s principle accepting and integrating Chiron’s paradoxes while Chiron “plays” in the external world, granting the planet (and the person in its spheres of influence) extraordinary, almost surreal abilities and talents that astonish everyone (including the person themselves) with their persuasive power. A well-worked Chiron is a very tangible material, and working through its opposition offers an intriguing variant of talent—sustained, non-trivial vision and creativity in the spheres related to the planet. For example, mastering the opposition of Chiron to Pluto (which will cost the person dearly) grants extraordinary critical abilities; it is nearly impossible to evade the sharp, though sometimes harsh, remarks of such a person or relegate them to the subconscious—they are so precise, fair, and convincing. True mastery of the opposition to Chiron requires deep inner work and conscious management of the subconscious programs tied to the spheres influenced by the planet.

Everything depends on the sign in which the Sun is placed. This is always fanaticism—the fanaticism of the cause to which the sign belongs. A complete disregard for the interests and needs of the opposite side, a complete lack of contact, and the suppression of others for the sake of one’s own well-being. One-sidedness is the best-case scenario—one-sided development, one-sided preferences, a person so closed off that they fail to grasp the duality of the world, a development of essence that is entirely one-dimensional. Up to the age of 49. After 49, awareness dawns that the world is dual: that there are men and women, good and harm, Earth and Sun, and so on.
