Sun Opposition Mars

Sun — Mars Opposition

(Transit. Sun → Natal Mars)

Different sources for the child’s horoscope

The child shows a strong spirit of contradiction. They often get into arguments and can be quarrelsome. They tend to extremes in judging others, dividing people into good and bad.

Het Monster. Aspects

A spirit of contradiction. The desire for power brings them into conflict with people of the same nature, leading to frequent disputes. The tendency to use force instead of diplomacy creates unpleasant situations. For them, people are either entirely good or entirely bad. They are overly impulsive, often aggressive in intimacy, and prone to jealousy. Heavy workloads put a strain on the heart. There is a risk of being harmed by vengeful individuals.

Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary

Opposition, square: aggression turns against the Sun as a symbol. This results in rebellion, confrontation, conflicts, and uprisings against authority. A disconnect between thought and action, a need for self-assertion through denial or through violence and repression. Psychologically, this may reflect a fear of the masculine principle as an embodiment of aggression. Note that opposition here signifies rebellion—sometimes restrained or hidden—while the square manifests more openly.

Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects

Sun opposition: Before acting on an intention, one must understand to what extent it truly belongs to them. An opposition between the Sun and a planet highlights the issue of its relationship with the individual’s will and the imperative circumstances that arise along their path. The mere presence of a major aspect between the Sun and a planet means that its principle will never manifest independently of the person’s will or the determining circumstances shaping their behavior. The opposition adds a clear opposition between these principles, often leading to the externalization of one of them. At a low level, this provokes conflict when a person forcibly resists an external manifestation of the planet’s principle or, conversely, when external conditions suppress the internal manifestations of the planet’s principle with which they identify. For example, in a Sun–Mars opposition, the individual will experience various conflicts and battles with the outside world (or with themselves at a higher level), but upon closer inspection, two types can be observed: in the first case, the person emphasizes and internalizes the Sun’s principle, opposing their will and composure to their own external initiative; in the second case, they adopt an aggressive Martian stance and actively fight against an opposing external will, effectively submitting to its initiative without having their own. In a Sun–Moon opposition, a person constantly fights with themselves, and the people they occasionally clash with are merely substitutes embodying their will and ego, which this aspect forces them to learn to cooperate with and understand. If they emphasize the Moon (i.e., adopt the ego’s position), they immediately threaten to destroy their own “home,” depriving themselves of family and sustenance (at least in their perception). If they adopt the Sun’s position (i.e., activate their will and initiative), they act in ways that painfully suppress their own vital interests (though they cannot explain why). Working through this aspect grants extraordinary resilience in life—for example, a woman who can help her husband overcome alcoholism or mental illness and then raise wonderful children with him. Mars opposition: After overcoming an external enemy, watch as it becomes internal; after subduing the internal, beware of its externalization. The planet involved in the opposition to Mars will constantly experience the influence of force, and establishing harmony with this force will be difficult. If the primary emphasis is on the planet and the person identifies with its principle, the external environment quickly becomes aggressive and begins to interfere strongly. If they start fighting it actively, they soon grow accustomed to conflict, forget their original plans, and shift the emphasis of the opposition, resulting in Mars becoming internally emphasized while the planet’s principle loses its significance, transferring to the external world and taking on the role of an enemy, as described in the well-known saying, “What you fought for.” For example, in a Mars–Saturn opposition, one cannot fight for discipline; one can only strive to be disciplined with minimal effort, or the struggle will end in major troubles, external restrictions (Saturn’s lower octave), and the triumph of inner chaos. The problem often lies in the fact that a person feels strength only in external manifestations of the planet’s principle but tends to fight against it. After defeating and internalizing the planet, they lose their strength entirely, and the most painful and incomprehensible moments are those imperceptible turning points of the opposition. Working through it grants stable strength to the planet’s manifestations, including the vibrations it needs, giving the person great self-confidence and the ability to balance even the most acute and tense situations (related to the planet’s principle and the houses where it and Mars are located or rule, as well as the aspects of these planets). At a low level, and especially if Mars is afflicted by its opposition, it can manifest as destructive aggression in both the person and their surroundings. It is important to remember that the instability of the opposition—i.e., the frequent uncontrolled shift in emphasis between the planets—indicates poor processing of the aspect. Conversely, systematic work to track and consciously manage it is the most effective way to achieve stability and harmony with oneself and the world.

A. Ryzhov. Health, ASC, Sun, Moon

Mars generates a lot of heat. It increases vitality. A negative aspect to the Sun boosts vitality but can cause fevers. Fevers are temperatures of 40°C, sometimes reaching 41°C, lasting for three days. All toxins are burned out. The frequency of fevers depends on the degree of the body’s toxicity. Fevers, inflammatory disorders, cuts, wounds, and accidents.

Frances Sakoian. Aspects

A spirit of contradiction, a tendency to provoke arguments, and often quarrelsomeness. Aggressiveness attracts others of a similar nature. The desire for power brings them into conflict with like-minded people, resulting in willful disputes. The tendency to resort to force instead of reason and diplomacy creates unpleasant situations and “spoils the blood.” The life areas related to the opposition are marked by the sign and house involved. These individuals often act on behalf of a particular group. For them, people are divided into good and bad. They are overly impulsive, lacking subtlety in their dealings with others. They are often aggressive in intimacy and frequently push themselves to the limit, straining the heart.
