Sun Opposition: Before executing an intention, one should understand to what extent it is truly one’s own. The opposition to the Sun actualizes for the Planet the problem of its relationship with the person’s will and various imperative circumstances that arise on their path. The mere presence of a major aspect between the Sun and the Planet means that its principle will never manifest independently of the person’s will or the circumstances determining their behavior; the opposition additionally indicates a certain opposition of these principles, often accompanied by the exteriorization of one of them. At a low level, this provokes conflict, where either the person willfully struggles with one or another external manifestation of the Planet’s principle, or, conversely, external conditions suppress the internal manifestations of the Planetary principle with which the person identifies. For example, with a Sun-Mars opposition, a person will have various conflicts and battles with the external world (at a higher level – with themselves), but upon closer inspection, one can notice that they are of “two types: in the first case, the person accentuates and interiorizes the Sun’s principle and opposes their will and focus (in reality, the matter itself, on their own initiative), in the second, conversely, they adopt an aggressive Martian position for themselves and actively fight against an imperative hostile will, essentially submitting to its initiative, i.e., having none of their own. In this case, one type of conflict can easily transform into the other, which is easily noticeable by the change in house accentuation. With a Sun-Moon opposition, a person constantly struggles with themselves, and the people with whom they occasionally engage in battle are essentially stand-ins, embodying their will and ego, which with this aspect need to learn to cooperate and understand each other, since by accentuating the Moon, i.e., adopting its position, here as a person, here as a person on the horizon, threatening to destroy their house, depriving them of family and food (at least, so it seems to them), and by adopting the Sun’s position, i.e., engaging their will and initiative, the person begins to act in a way that (truly) painfully infringes upon their vital interests (why this happens). Working through this aspect gives extraordinary stability in life – this is, for example, a woman who is capable of curing her husband of alcoholism or mental illness and afterwards raising wonderful children together with him. Mercury Opposition: Before speaking, think: do your words not betray your thought? The opposition to Mercury poses the problem of the relationship between the Planet’s principle and rational thinking. One should not think that a strong Mercury in the chart gives intelligence: the latter is determined more by the general evolutionary level, and as for Mercury, intelligence depends more on its working through than on its aspects. At a low level of working through, a dominant Mercury suppresses the Planetary principle with mental clichés, profanes it, and mercilessly distorts it. For example, with a Mercury-Moon opposition, an accent on Mercury leads to a person thinking in an absolutely formal way, in exact accordance with social clichés: in order to be healthy and happy, I should do gymnastics in the morning, get married at 20, give birth to three children, and work, not understanding that their actual well-being depends not on the formal correspondence of their fate to the specified scheme, but completely unable to hear the true voice of their needs, even the most primitive ones, except in those cases when the Moon decisively appropriates the main accent in this opposition for itself, completely switching off Mercury, or rather, subordinating it to itself, i.e., the person themselves does not allow into their head, i.e., allows into their head to get rid of, for example, obsessive thoughts about food or primitive, but sweet sex, which sharply lowers the evolutionary level of their behavior or leads to strong frustrations, neuroses, or depression. Here, the working through goes by clarifying the role of thought in the manifestations of the Planetary principle, which should generally be guided by it, but not controlled in every detail and even less so directed or replaced by crude mental schemes. On the other hand, thought can also help in the development of new directions and the materialization of the Planetary principle, and should not become its obedient servant, which the person will be convinced of more than once when sorting through the unthinkable chaos that arises after the prolonged dominance of the Planetary principle over the mercurial. At a high level, the Planetary principle receives a stable channel into the mental plane, and the very thoughts that the person needs for the development of the Planetary principle come to their head – this feeling of the obedience of thought and speech cannot be confused with anything; it gives, in corresponding situations, a feeling of absolute self-confidence (those around begin to speak more correctly about the stability of a worked-through opposition).
