Sun-Sun Opposition

Sun – Jupiter Opposition

(Transit. Sun → Natal Jupiter)

Different sources for the child’s horoscope

The child overestimates themselves and exaggerates their abilities. They promise more than they can deliver and struggle to set limits or say “no.” This can later undermine their self-esteem if they fail to fulfill their commitments. It is important to help the child learn to be honest with themselves so they can better assess their true capabilities. Sometimes, the child feels that their parent expects too much from them, leading them to “embellish” the truth about their achievements in order to receive praise and recognition.

Het Monster. Aspects

Excessive optimism and an overflow of emotions. They promise more than they can deliver, which can damage their reputation. They may come across as arrogant or cutting in their words and make unrealistic demands of those close to them.

Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary

Opposition, square: in this case, a dose of radicalism should be added. The desire to see oneself as important and irreplaceable can escalate into grandiosity. The person is never satisfied with what they have and is always convinced that their position does not match the greatness of their merits. They become obsessive, insistently demanding recognition and rewards, complaining that the world does not understand or appreciate them. Suspicious and egocentric, they fail to see beyond their own nose. As a result, they often reject or criticize what is beyond their reach—such as the power and influence of others—or resort to questionable or even forbidden methods to achieve it. At the core of this behavior lies a rebellion against the authority of the parental model.

Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects

Sun opposition: Before acting on an intention, one must first understand to what extent it truly belongs to them. An opposition between the Sun and a planet highlights the issue of the planet’s relationship with the individual’s will and the imperative circumstances that shape their path. A major aspect between the Sun and a planet indicates that its principle will never manifest independently of the person’s will or the defining circumstances of their behavior; the opposition further reveals a clear opposition between these principles, often leading to the externalization of one of them. At a lower level, this provokes conflict when the person forcefully resists an external manifestation of the planet’s principle or, conversely, when external conditions suppress the internal manifestations of the planet’s principle with which they identify. For example, with a Sun–Mars opposition, the person will experience various conflicts and battles with the outside world (or, at a higher level, with themselves), but upon closer inspection, two types of conflicts emerge: in the first, the person emphasizes and internalizes the Sun’s principle, opposing their will and determination to the external world; in the second, they adopt an aggressive Martian stance, actively fighting against an imperative external will, effectively submitting to its initiative without asserting their own. With a Sun–Moon opposition, the person constantly struggles with themselves, and the people they occasionally clash with serve as mere substitutes embodying their will and ego—principles that, in this aspect, must learn to cooperate and understand one another. If the Moon is emphasized, adopting an ego-driven position, the person immediately threatens to destroy their own foundation—depriving themselves of family and sustenance (or so it seems to them). If the Sun is emphasized, asserting their will and initiative, they act in ways that painfully suppress their vital interests (though they cannot explain why). Working through this aspect grants extraordinary resilience in life—for example, a woman who can heal her husband of alcoholism or mental illness and then raise wonderful children with him.

Jupiter opposition: If we take pride in someone else and identify with them, then when we take pride in ourselves, we project that pride onto others. A Jupiter opposition gives the planet (and the person in the areas they govern) a sense of extraordinary importance. Indeed, working through such an opposition grants the planet exceptionally stable (karmic) privileges and opportunities to expand its principle, which constantly arise both in the person’s life and in the lives of those connected to them. At a lower level, however, there is no constructive interaction between the Jupiterian and planetary principles, and depending on which planet in the opposition is emphasized, the person falls into one of two positions. Naturally, it is more pleasant when the emphasis is on Jupiter, and the person feels inwardly like a wealthy potential benefactor in the areas governed by the planet. However, the planet’s principle is lost in their arrogance, gradually externalizing and beginning to work against the person themselves. For example, a Jupiter–Venus opposition may produce a talented and highly erudite art critic, but at a lower level of aspect processing, the person will merely believe (with absolute inner conviction) that they have a brilliant understanding of art (and love), constantly imposing their judgments and pompous opinions to the point of embarrassment. (A pronounced Jupiter opposition, such as its opposition to a stellium, can, alongside great opportunities and abilities and strong patrons, also bring utter blindness to one’s own greatness, insane arrogance, and complete lack of self-criticism.) If the emphasis is on the planet, it activates various temptations, but working through the aspect lies in expanding inner potential. Thus, with a Venus–Jupiter opposition, if Venus is emphasized, the choice may be between external fame, exhibitions, public and international activities, or a shift in creative direction (mastered style or technique) and the development of something new. A Saturn–Jupiter opposition may, at some point, force the person to choose between rigid control over many subordinates or the development and mastery of vast areas of inner space. Both may be needed in life, but it is important not to confuse these phases of biography.

A. Ryzhov. Health, ASC, Sun, Moon

Although Jupiter is naturally beneficial, it can cause blood-related illnesses. In transits, it may expand the disease or worsen the condition.

Frances Sakoian. Aspects

Excessive optimism and an overflow of emotions toward people. They promise more than they can deliver, which can damage their reputation. They are often arrogant and cutting in their words. Sometimes, they make unrealistic and unattainable demands of those close to them. They should strive to stay grounded, remain indifferent, curb boasting, and avoid showing off.

S.V. Shestopalov. Aspects of Planets

A volatile temperament, prone to adventure and risk-taking, rebellious, aggressive, stubborn, excessively independent and freedom-loving, proud, carefree, self-confident, underestimating dangers, leading to miscalculations, extravagant, gambling, eccentric, disdainful of social norms, irritable, hot-tempered, fond of luxury, unjust. However, if the person works on themselves, such aspects can produce a fighter for justice, a crusader against evil and societal vices, injustice from the powerful, a willingness to sacrifice personal well-being for others, fearlessness, courage, determination, nobility, honesty, straightforwardness, and sincerity.
