The child overestimates himself and exaggerates his abilities. He promises more than he can deliver and struggles to set limits or say “no.” This, in turn, may damage his self-esteem if he fails to fulfill his commitments. He needs help learning to be honest with himself, which will make it easier to assess his true limitations.
Sometimes the child feels that his father expects too much from him, and as a result, the child may constantly embellish the truth about his achievements in order to hear words of recognition and praise from his father.
