Venus – Neptune Opposition
(Transit Venus → Natal Neptune)
Various sources for the child’s horoscope
Your child is very active, dreamy, and especially sensitive. People like this are said to live in the clouds. They can be overly trusting and fail to understand others. Easily hurt without reason, they are easily wounded by the coldness of loved ones. They have an extraordinary receptivity to beauty and a strong attraction to refined forms of art. Possible subconscious emotional issues, self-doubt, and retreat into a world of fantasy to escape harsh reality. Parents should protect such a child from drugs, to which they are extremely sensitive.
Het Monster. Aspects
Emotions are governed by subconscious forces. Often, they harm themselves in matters of money, marriage, social life, and creativity. Laziness and a thirst for pleasure lead to alcohol and drugs. Secret love affairs that result in scandals. A tendency toward sexual deviations. Homosexuality is not uncommon.
Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary
Opposition, square: a person experiences ordinary, everyday love as unacceptable to them; they are drawn to something impossible, distant, or convoluted. They often make mistakes in their choices and end up in incredible situations, sometimes becoming victims. Their pursuit of an ideal or absolute does not align well with reality, and they seek in the wrong places, attaching themselves to the wrong people. Through these aspects, emotions can be sublimated into religious or artistic aspirations, at least stimulating greater creative activity.
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Venus opposition: The world’s lack of love for you is not proof of your complete selfishness. The opposition of Venus creates problems in the areas governed by the planet—social, ethical, aesthetic, not to mention emotional ones, especially in love. If the emphasis is on Venus, the person becomes overwhelmed by social norms, standard ethics, and encounters external manifestations of the planetary principle in the full arsenal of societal clichés—both conscious and subconscious. In general, any expression of the planet is viewed from an aesthetic perspective or, even more biased, through the lens of “like—dislike,” “love—hate,” where a peculiar mix of personal sympathies and antipathies blends with the societal standards imposed by the collective, which the person initially fails to distinguish.
If the emphasis is on the planet itself and the person internalizes its principle, Venus manifests as an external opponent—through social influences (often hostile), negative ethical and aesthetic judgments from the outside world, with which the person may stubbornly clash without realizing that the roots of antagonism lie in their own inner discord. For example, in a Venus–Saturn opposition, a person may feel a deep desire to dedicate themselves to serious art. If they emphasize the Venusian principle—seeing themselves as a free artist with no obligations except to live in the world of the Beautiful—they reject Saturn’s principle, effectively externalizing it, and the lack of genuine dedication and focus (internal indulgence) weakens Saturn. The world: various external obstacles arise, and there is a general sense that the outside world is cold and disapproving of the person.
Conversely, internalizing Saturn—focusing on its principle, withdrawing into solitude, immersing in serious work, or simply ignoring the world entirely—activates Venus externally: suddenly, guests with champagne appear, invitations pour in (if Venus has harmonious aspects), or sharp social conflicts arise, often with accusations of selfish behavior (if Venus is afflicted). In general, a major aspect of Venus raises the issue of love, and in the areas governed by the planet in opposition to Venus, the question of what one truly wants—whether to love or to be loved—becomes acutely pressing at some point. Working through this aspect leads to a stable fusion of the planetary principle with the Venusian one: all expressions of the planet become perfectly formed and filled with love for people; in the areas governed by the planet, the person gains a profound understanding of others and the ability to influence large social programs.
Neptune opposition: Lies are not a seasoning—they are the main course. A Neptune opposition at a low level creates issues of external and internal deception and self-deception in the areas governed by the planet, along with the theme of lower meditations—i.e., vices governed by that planet. If the emphasis is on Neptune, a person may derive pleasure from the lowest expressions of the planet in the external world, and self-deception can be so strong that they do not recognize their involvement in something bad, unworthy, or immoral. Conversely, if the emphasis is on the planet’s principle, the person will encounter deception and misunderstanding in the outside world and will genuinely wonder what is going on, failing to see that internal dishonesty, self-deception, and deceiving others create a cloud of lower octave Neptune around them, and the world begins to deceive them in return.
For example, in a Mars–Neptune opposition (a very dangerous aspect at a low level), a person may internally enjoy any external activity, especially aggression, completely oblivious to its destructive consequences for peace and others. Later, the situation turns, and the aggression of the outside world is directed at them, while Neptune brings a sense of complete incomprehension, offense, and injustice at what is happening—all with a sweet aftertaste of lower Neptunian masochistic meditation. Then (oh horror!) the emphasis of the opposition shifts to the opposite, distorting external reality: the person loses their understanding of others, and destructive Martian self-aggression erupts within, possibly accompanied by acute guilt and remorse, which the outside world categorically fails to understand or accept. Then the emphasis shifts again.
Working through this aspect is challenging, as it requires deep, intimate, and essential changes in a person’s relationship to the planet’s principle—they must learn to understand and love it and be honest with themselves and the outside world, at least not lying outright at first. For example, a Neptune opposition to the Ascendant (i.e., Neptune conjunct the Descendant) requires the person to stop lying to their partners and open enemies (to which they are highly prone), or they will never escape the cloud of general deception and falsehood.
At a high level of processing, the person gains a stable, subtle, and profound understanding of the planet’s principle, the ability for elevated meditations in its spheres, which they can then carefully and thoughtfully convey to others.
Frances Sakoian. Aspects
Emotions and affects are governed by subconscious forces. Often, they harm themselves in matters of money, marriage, social life, and creativity. Subconscious instincts create illusions, distorting reality. Laziness and a thirst for pleasure lead to alcoholism and drugs. Sensual excesses can drain the wallet; due to drinking, there is no career, and positions keep getting lower. Secret love affairs lead to scandals. Neptune gives a tendency toward secrecy in personal matters until everything is forcibly exposed. A tendency toward sexual deviations—whether corrupting them or being corrupted by them. Homosexuality is not uncommon. Marriage gradually deteriorates, leading to divorce.
S.V. Shestopalov. Aspects of Planets
Unhealthy fantasy, delusional idealism, empty daydreaming, utopianism, vagueness, unclear sensations and feelings, self-deception, illusions, disappointments, weak will, indulgence in one’s feelings, a desire to go with the flow, unstable ideals. The positive side is that the sense of dissatisfaction pushes one toward spiritual growth and a striving for beauty.
