Jupiter Opposition: If, by admiring another, we identify with them, then by admiring ourselves, we project onto someone else. The Jupiter opposition gives the planet (and the person themselves in the spheres they govern) a sense of extraordinary importance. Indeed, working through such an opposition grants the planet an exceptionally stable (karmic) privileged position and opportunities for expansion of its principle, which constantly arise both in the person’s life and in the lives of those connected to them. At a low level, however, there is no constructive interaction between the Jupiterian and planetary principles, and depending on the emphasis on the planets in the opposition, the person falls into one of two positions. Naturally, it is more pleasant when the emphasis is on Jupiter, and the person, in the spheres of influence of the planet, internally feels like a wealthy and potential benefactor of those chosen at their discretion. However, the principle of the planet is lost in their arrogance, gradually externalizes, and begins to act against the person themselves. For example, a Jupiter opposition to Venus can produce a talented and highly erudite art critic, but at a lower level of aspect processing, the person will only seem (yet with complete inner conviction) to excel in art (and love), constantly imposing their judgments and pompousness to the point of embarrassment. (An emphasized Jupiter opposition, for instance, its opposition to a stellium, can bring, alongside great opportunities and abilities and strong patrons, complete blindness to one’s own grandeur, insane arrogance, and total lack of self-criticism.)
An emphasis on the planet, on the other hand, activates various temptations, but the processing of the aspect lies in expanding the internal possibilities. Thus, in the case of a Venus opposition to Jupiter with an emphasis on Venus, the alternative might look like this: either external fame, exhibitions, public and international activity, or a shift in the creative channel (the manner or technique mastered) and the development of something new. An opposition of Saturn to Jupiter can, at some point, present the person with a choice: either rigid control over numerous subjects or the development and mastery of vast areas of inner space. Both may be needed in life, but it is important not to confuse these segments of biography.
Chiron Opposition: By going too deeply into yourself, you risk emerging from the opposite side. The Chiron opposition sets two main tasks for the planet: the qualitative expansion of its principle and its materialization in areas previously considered subtle, the most refined, and utterly elusive. At a low level, however, Chiron does not bring expansion or materialization but chaos and developmental deadlock.
If, at this moment, the emphasis in the opposition is on the planet, and the person identifies with its principle, Chiron manifests its presence in the external world, creating in the spheres related to the planet incredible fuss, disorder, unimaginable (often very original) obstacles, and dead ends, the meaning and cause of which remain unclear to the person. This forces them to broaden their views on the planet’s principle and master it in a much wider scope—essentially, to move to the next level of processing the planet. If they fail to do so, external circumstances arise in such a way that the person loses their identification with the planet’s principle; the latter externalizes and appears in the external world beyond former reach (as when a pilot becomes an airport worker), and the main emphasis in the opposition shifts to Chiron, which, having taken root internally, solidifies established views and often a sense of inner deadlock accompanied by despair.
Processing here occurs through the acceptance and mastery of the planet’s principle of Chiron’s paradoxes, while Chiron plays in the external world, granting the planet (and the person in its spheres of influence) extraordinary, almost surreal opportunities and talents that will astound everyone (including the person themselves) with their persuasive power. A processed Chiron is very material, and working through its opposition offers an interesting variant of talent—sustained, non-trivial vision and creativity in the spheres related to the planet. For example, processing a Chiron opposition to Pluto (which will cost the person dearly) yields extraordinary critical abilities; it is difficult to evade or suppress the witty yet sharp remarks of such a person in their subconscious—they are so precise, fair, and convincing.
True processing of the opposition to Chiron requires deep inner work and the mastery of conscious management of the subconscious programs tied to the spheres of influence of the planet.
