Semi-sextile Mercury — Saturn
(Transit Mercury → Natal Saturn)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Semi-sextile of Mercury: When cosmic visitors wish to establish contact with humanity, they will announce it through the press. At a low level, this aspect brings a slight mental interest in abstract cosmic themes and narrative twists in the areas governed by the planet, along with occasional thoughts that do not fit into the standard social framework—thoughts to which the individual often pays little attention. When strongly activated, the aspect distorts the mental picture of reality in the planet’s spheres, potentially causing rejection or even fear of one’s own ideas. This occurs because public subconsciousness imposes a particularly strong censorship on rational thought; cosmic ethics are largely unacceptable to it, primarily for anthropocentric reasons: after all, “man is the master of all, he decides everything,” and the ultimate spiritual goal of evolution is not reflected in these barely comprehensible words. At a higher level of development, the individual begins to perceive their unique mode of thought and mental control in the planet’s spheres as fresh, creative, and potentially highly promising, though they may struggle to find common ground with others or even explain to themselves the hidden meaning behind their thoughts and words—yet they sense that something is amiss. Deep processing of the aspect leads to rational comprehension of earthly and, to some extent, cosmic karma in the relevant areas, aligning earthly and cosmic rational perspectives (at a low level, this is impossible, and with a debilitated semi-sextile, mental disorders may arise).
Semi-sextile of Saturn: The sun of the inner sky has its own spots. This aspect signifies great responsibility toward cosmic karma in the planet’s spheres, the potential for deep understanding of it, and, when worked through, promises otherworldly wisdom and perfection. At a low level, the individual may focus on criticizing the poor quality of external events in the planet’s spheres without recognizing, first, that their demands are often misunderstood by those around them—who typically stand firmly on earthly ground—and, second, that karma in this context primarily refers to inner work aimed at increasingly profound meaning in cosmic (not just earthly) evolution. Until the individual reaches this level of understanding, the planet’s spheres will continue to attract them, and they may comprehend them more deeply than others, yet their own level—inexplicably to them—will remain unsatisfactory. If Saturn is afflicted in connection with this, complexes and phobias may arise, accompanied by genuine bewilderment toward the environment, the inner world, or God: “What more do you want from me?!” Indeed, the demands—or rather, expectations (after all, a semi-sextile is a harmonious aspect)—placed by cosmic karma in this case are significant, and superficial or short-lived efforts will not suffice. In its harmonious form, this aspect grants relatively deep insight and original vision in the planet’s spheres as part of the natural course of life—not immediately, but without excessive effort. While this may be insufficient, harmonious aspects can mask subtle dissatisfaction with the cosmic egregore and, accordingly, a mild discomfort in the inner world—discomfort that intensifies when the inner world is afflicted.
