Semi-Sextile Mercury – Venus
(Transit Mercury → Natal Venus)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Semi-Sextile of Mercury: When cosmic aliens wish to establish contact with humans, they will announce it through the press. At a low level, this aspect brings a slight mental interest in abstract cosmic themes and narrative twists in the spheres of the planet, along with individual thoughts that do not fit into the standard social framework—thoughts to which the person often pays little attention. When the aspect is strongly activated, it distorts the mental picture of the world in the planet’s spheres, and the individual may reject it or even fear their own thoughts. This happens because public subconsciousness imposes particularly strong censorship on rational thinking; cosmic ethics are largely unacceptable to it, primarily for anthropocentric reasons: after all, “man is the master of all, he decides everything,” and the ultimate spiritual goal of evolution is not defined by these barely comprehensible words. At a higher level of development, the person begins to sense their unique way of thinking and mental control in the planet’s spheres as fresh, creative, and potentially very promising, though they may struggle to find common ground with others or even explain to themselves the hidden meaning of their thoughts and words—even as they feel something is amiss. Deep processing of the aspect leads to a rational understanding of earthly and, to some extent, cosmic karma in the relevant areas, allowing earthly and cosmic rational perspectives to align to a significant degree (at a low level, this is impossible, and with a debilitated semi-sextile, mental disorders may occur).
Semi-Sextile of Venus: Contacts between humans and aliens will begin when the Ministry of Culture takes responsibility for them. This aspect brings (especially in the planet’s spheres) a cosmic accent to the sense of harmony; with its development, it may manifest in an artist, poet, or musician whose aesthetics are governed by laws previously unknown to Earth. At a low level, and especially when Venus is afflicted, the individual may deny conventional standards of beauty, finding them mundane and stale, instead drawn to patterns of the starry sky and the shimmer of the aurora. In social perception and ethics within the planet’s spheres, this person may face difficulties due to their dual earthly-cosmic perspective: ordinary earthly perception and ethics can suddenly shift into something incomprehensible, where an obvious tragedy is seen as a farce, and trivial matters take on an unnatural significance. For example, to work through the semi-sextile of Sun–Venus, one must understand and internalize cosmic courtesy in their initiatives and volitional expressions during communication with others—even those who, at first glance, do not deserve even ordinary earthly courtesy. Until this is achieved, the person may be tormented by a sense of guilt toward them and others, as their behavior disrupts harmony in the Cosmos—and, of course, within their own soul.
