Such a child may be attracted to the superhero — an ordinary person who transforms into a powerful being. He will strive to resemble such a figure, displaying boldness and self-confidence. The child must understand that there are right and wrong ways to use personal power. Otherwise, he may express the use of his strength through fights and arguments.
Family issues, such as divorce from or loss of one parent, can intensify the feeling of being deprived of personal power and will. Parents and teachers should allow such children to acknowledge their own significance, while not permitting any disrespectful or cruel behavior toward themselves or others.
The child may perceive their father as all-knowing and omnipotent, or, conversely, as domineering and merciless (these qualities arise in the child’s imagination through observation of real-life situations).
