A woman’s luck lies in her handbag. The color of the bag, its contents, and how a woman carries it—all of this influences whether Fortuna smiles or frowns. So says Singaporean feng shui master John Lok.
According to Lok, to always be accompanied by success, you should carry your bag in your left hand—this “increases what goes into it and decreases what is taken out.”
Pay close attention to where you place your bag. When sitting, it’s best to keep it on your left, unless you’re with friends, as people emit more energy than inanimate objects.
Chinese geomancy uses the elements of fire, earth, water, metal, and wood.
Lok explains that red, pink, and purple colors combined with an irregular or awkward shape belong to the “fire” element. These elements radiate confidence, so they are ideal when you need career advancement.
Square shapes combined with yellow, orange, and brown colors represent the “earth” element and are beneficial when you wish to appear more approachable.
Round white, silver, gold, chrome, bronze, or gray bags belong to the “metal” element and can bring clarity and strength to your thoughts.
Green, light-blue colors and shades + square shapes represent “wood” and are good for achieving harmony.
Curved shapes combined with black and dark-blue colors belong to the “water” element and enhance luck, signaling that the owner of such a bag deserves respect.
For a bag to bring good fortune, color is not the only important factor. It’s advisable to keep lucky talismans inside—a string of three coins or an object in the same color as the bag itself.
Some feng shui schools claim that color combinations can strengthen health and even help cure illnesses.
This applies to handbags. If you’re feeling unwell, favorable color combinations are: black-white, red-gold, purple-silver.
However, the following combinations—red-white, green-yellow, and blue-red—are bad for health.
As for size, feng shui recommendations are simple—the bigger, the better.
