Moon+Uranus+Mercury = photography
Is there a connection between astrology and photography? Can one determine from a natal chart a person’s inclination toward this new art form? New, compared to the long history of astrology. Of course… Because ancient astrologers did not know tools such as the camera… But in the last century, new technologies and new devices have allowed people to express new inner qualities, celebrations, even art. Today, all mobile phone owners photograph everything and everywhere. But this does not mean they are all professional photographers.
Only those individuals become professional photographers who have developed their qualities in this field and used them to find work, earn a living, and achieve success in society.
It is precisely these people who became the subject of my research into the connection between such abilities and astrology.
What exactly is “photography”?
The first step at the beginning of the research was to define the key qualities of this group of professionals in order to associate them with planets in the natal chart.
The key words turned out to be:
● “communication” between photographer and observer
● overcoming time and space (“capturing” in an image)
● interpretation of the surrounding environment
● a part of the photographer’s identity is transferred into the photograph when the author chooses the “right” image
● use of a specific tool: the camera
Which planets?
Second step: identify the planets associated with such qualities.
The following were selected:
Mercury: eyes, communication, speed, immediacy.
Moon: sensitivity, ability to perceive the boundaries of visibility, desire to “permanently” capture a situation, a face, or the surrounding environment. The Moon archetype is connected with memory, and in general with preserving the “status quo.” The Moon signifies “home,” and for a photographer, everything captured in an image holds the significance of always keeping it close, “at home”—one’s feelings, impressions, emotions.
Uranus: technological tools (camera), choice
How do they manifest in photographers’ horoscopes?
Third step: collect natal charts
48 natal charts of famous professionals were collected.
From analyzing these charts and calculating all possible aspects, the following results were obtained:
in 26 out of 48 cases, the Moon was in aspect to Mercury
in 26 out of 48 cases, the Moon was in aspect to Uranus
in 29 out of 48 cases, Mercury was in aspect to Uranus
Such numbers—26 and 29—turned out to be higher than expected and greater than aspects between other planets. For example, the aspect between Venus and Uranus occurred only 16 times!
Interpretation.
To become a great photographer, one must have a strong desire to express one’s own feelings and, at the same time, tell what happens in the world through the prism of one’s own emotional nature. (Moon + Mercury)
Technology greatly helps convey the message, allowing it to remain always present and ever alive… Uranus also enables the selection of those moments which the Moon considers most significant, full of emotion, brightness. (Moon + Uranus)
If Mercury signifies “eyes,” sight, gaze, communication, then such a frequently recurring aspect with Uranus, evident in our 48 charts, thus, like technology and the skill of selection, plays a strong role in modern professional photography. (Mercury + Uranus)
Conclusions.
Astrology proves to us that in the horoscope, we do not find “fate”—it (in my opinion…) depends on the circumstances of life itself—but rather, we can find clear indicators of our inclinations. Such results do not mean that every person who has strong links between the Moon, Uranus, and Mercury must become a photographer, but rather, that—if he/she chooses to pursue photography—they have considerable potential to achieve success…
