Cheesy Sticks


Crispy, flaky cheese spirals will win over everyone. This savory pastry is perfect for those on a diet. And baking them is very simple.

You will need:

– 150 g hard cheese;
– 80 g butter;
– 1 cup flour;
– 100 ml milk;
– 3 tsp baking powder;
– Salt.

Take the butter out half an hour in advance so it softens and becomes easier to mix with the cheese. Use good-quality cheese, grate it on a medium grater, combine with butter, mash well, then add milk, salt, baking powder, and flour. Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands, then place it in the refrigerator for half an hour to rest and firm up. Next, on a floured surface, roll out the dough to 5 mm thickness. Cut the dough into strips 2 cm wide. Do not add flour directly into the dough; instead, lightly dust the work surface.

Carefully wrap each strip around a regular pencil in a spiral shape. Grease the pencil with oil beforehand. Be careful, as the soft dough may stretch or tear. Then gently remove the pencil from the dough. Place the spirals onto a prepared baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 200 degrees. This savory, slightly salty pastry is perfect as an appetizer or for evening tea. Enjoy your meal!
