The Mercury trine: To make a shallow thought profound, it is not enough to dig a hole for it. The Mercury trine provides excellent mental abilities and agility, as well as luck in transactions in areas governed by the planet, provided the person puts in minimal effort. For example, the Mercury trine Mars gives strength of speech and thought, ease of reasoning, and the ability to perform great mental work in two seconds (and sell it profitably), but all this seems too easy to the person at first glance. If there is no additional interest or obstacles, they will likely limit themselves to stating: “Well, it’s all so simple, and this is so simple, and this is so simple.” The trine simultaneously gives great superficial abilities—the person grasps things instantly—and laziness and an inner antipathy toward hard mental work where it is unnecessary.
