Delicious Easter Bread with Sour Cream – Recipe with Photos

Paska is a traditional pastry baked for Easter. Paskas can be made with milk, cream, or egg yolks. There are many recipes available, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste.

As for the shape, a round or cylindrical mold is most commonly used. However, you can bake paskas in any shape you prefer—square, rectangular, or even in the form of a bundt cake with a hole in the center, perfect for arranging eggs as a festive decoration. The key point is that the delicious taste of this wonderful pastry will remain unchanged regardless of its shape.

Ingredients
– Cream (10%) – 1 cup,
– Dry yeast – 1 tsp,
– Chicken eggs – 2 pcs,
– Butter – 50 grams,
– Granulated sugar – 50 grams,
– Raisins – 50 grams,
– Salt – a pinch,
– Wheat flour – 8 tbsp.

For the icing:
– Egg white – 1 pc,
– Powdered sugar – 70–100 grams.

For decoration:
– Cake sprinkles – 2 packets.

How to make paska: Pour warm milk into a bowl.

Add dry instant yeast and stir the mixture.

Add half of the required amount of wheat flour. It’s better to sift it beforehand.

The dough will be sticky to the touch. This is normal. Let the dough rise in a warm place for one hour.

Separate egg yolks from whites into different bowls. Add sugar to the yolks and rub thoroughly until pale and smooth.

Soak raisins in hot water for 10 minutes.

Melt butter in a microwave or using a double boiler.

By this time, the dough should have doubled in size and risen well.

Add the raisins. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until foamy. Carefully pour the melted butter and egg yolks into the dough. Then gently fold in the beaten egg whites.

Add the remaining wheat flour and mix all ingredients thoroughly. The dough should become smooth and uniform. Let it rise again in a warm place for one hour.

Grease the mold with oil and carefully transfer the dough into it using a spoon.

Bake the paska at 180–190 degrees Celsius for approximately 40 minutes. It should be nicely browned on top.

Remove the finished paska from the mold and place it on a serving plate.

Prepare the icing. Mix egg white with powdered sugar and whisk until smooth.

Pour the icing over the paska and sprinkle with colorful decorations. Your festive paska is ready!
