Cleanliness plays an important, if not the main, role in the kitchen. You should constantly maintain order in this space, avoid cluttering it with unnecessary kitchen utensils. The stove must be wiped spotless after every use. When choosing kitchen finishes, prefer white or pastel colors; for example, modern glossy Clipso or Labell ceilings can make this room brighter. On the other hand, it’s better to avoid deep dark or overly bright tones.
Many people have an entire arsenal of household appliances displayed in their kitchen, but this negatively affects the flow of Qi energy, which, stumbling over all these obstacles, turns into negative Sha-Qi energy. Only keep items you use daily within sight.
The main task of Feng Shui in the kitchen is the proper interaction of two conflicting elements: Fire and Water. To keep everything in balance, the stove, sink, and refrigerator should be positioned correctly: no close interactions between these kitchen elements should exist—neither placed directly adjacent nor directly opposite. If the sink, stove, and refrigerator are nevertheless placed close together, try to separate them with a wooden element, such as a cabinet or shelf.
Feng Shui also provides recommendations regarding the orientation of kitchen items. In particular, the refrigerator should never be placed in the South, which is the domain of Fire. The refrigerator will fit better in the Southeast, improving financial conditions, or in the Southwest, strengthening family relationships.
Pay attention to the placement of the stove as well. It should not be placed directly opposite the kitchen door or staircase, under a window or ceiling beam, opposite an open bathroom door, or in a corner of the room. Alternatively, hang a small mirror there to reflect the kitchen entrance. It is not recommended to place the stove near water sources (sink, refrigerator, water pipes) or in the Northwest (as it may worsen financial well-being).
Do not place any Feng Shui talismans in the kitchen. Cleanliness, good lighting, and proper interaction of elements—these are the factors that will create positive Qi energy and allow you to enjoy the fruits of abundance and prosperity!
