3rd House in Libra
Avesalom Podvodny. Houses in Zodiac Signs
Justice is a concept secondary to understanding. In social ethics, this position emphasizes the idea of justice, which on a lower level is symbolized by the principle “you to me — me to you.” Here, however, unlike the 3rd house in Taurus, justice is understood beyond mere material value, but with consideration of all circumstances of interaction with a person from the standpoint of one’s social stratum. In other words, a beggar on Sunday should be given money for vodka, while from a wealthy person it is proper to demand a substantial donation. There is a subconscious and very strong sense of elitist superiority over lower classes and a similar reverence toward higher circles, making it difficult to reconcile. Generally, subconscious programs governed by the 3rd house (social ethics, practical learning, and so on) lie deep—deeper than those of the 2nd house (and even more so the 1st)—and therefore are brought into consciousness and changed by personal will or a psychologist with great difficulty, especially since they are largely under the control of collective subconsciousness. Working through this placement of the 3rd house develops a refined social sensitivity and very correct, graceful behavior in human interactions. One needs to learn to perceive the warmth of human contact and to be able to express the love for people that arises in the heart. A student with this 3rd house placement will inevitably pay attention to the teacher’s appearance, elegance of speech, and social status. If he deems the latter insufficiently high, the teacher’s professional qualifications and teaching skills will make no impression, and the student will have no desire to learn. The mental approach to the subject will carry an aesthetic emphasis, and anything unclear or unattractive will not be accepted; in particular, the quality of visual aids and a properly balanced, logical presentation of material are very important. A teacher with Libra on the cusp of the 3rd house will be elegant and mentally detached, at least with students from lower social strata, whom he may wish to get rid of or (worse) humiliate. It should be remembered that the brilliance of a teacher’s reasoning and the outward appearance of the lesson as a whole impress the education inspector more than the students, for whom the essence always matters. And here, they cannot be deceived.
Houses in Signs. Oleksandr Kostovych
Expresses his ideas gracefully, is kind, fair toward his brothers, sisters, and neighbors. Loves traveling in comfort and luxury. May write in collaboration; his style is beautiful and harmonious, like his speech. In relationships, seeks fairness, guided by the principle “you to me — I to you.” As a student, he inevitably pays attention to the teacher’s appearance, elegance of speech, and social standing. Cheerful and pleasant in conversation and communication, speaks well, gives sound advice, very sensible, a good companion. A fine orator, in speech passionate and intense. He possesses intellect and magnetism that attract people to him. In conversations, he likes to talk a lot about himself, his advantages, and capabilities. He relies not on reason but on intuition. Sensitive, dislikes mockery, highly aware of what others think of him. Considers himself very intelligent, enjoys lecturing others. Understands well the complexities of other people’s lives, but cannot sort out his own. In family relationships, he likes to be independent and behaves so that others depend on him—this situation suits him well. A typical phrase: “What would you do without me?” He has an amazing ability to delegate boring, tedious tasks to others when his “I” would not receive adequate attention. Likes to show off in front of relatives and neighbors. Enjoys resolving conflicts between them using the carrot-and-stick method. Puts rude people in their place, but does so too theatrically in order to attract attention. In women, there may be dangerous childbirths, restless and unpredictable in course.

LIBRA — balanced, harmonious relations with close surroundings, yet maintaining a certain distance, with a detached, cool demeanor. Great importance is placed on the external form of relationships, adherence to diplomacy and propriety. In learning, a comfortable environment and aesthetic presentation of information are important, as well as the teacher’s appearance.
