Astrology in Choosing a Profession

We live in a unique time when new professions emerge every day. This phenomenon is undoubtedly connected with the progress of human consciousness and the expansion of worldviews. Yet even today, for many young people, choosing a career path remains rather chaotic. The worst scenario is when the choice is made for them, in which case the likelihood of it being optimal becomes even more problematic. When selecting a profession, people usually rely on considerations of prestige and so-called demand—essentially adopting social stereotypes, others’ opinions, and foreign perspectives. But as we know, anything foreign never brings happiness to anyone, which is why it’s relatively rare to meet a person whose profession truly satisfies their inner self. Considering that we devote a third or even more of our lives to work, it becomes clear how seriously we must approach the choice of professional activity. Any incompatibility, any mismatch between the profession and the person’s inner structure will inevitably lead to significant psychological issues (depression, alcohol and nicotine addiction, and others) as well as event-based distortions (lack of success, workplace problems, physical illnesses, family and personal difficulties). Even if the expected profession promises high income, if it is not loved, no amount of money will bring life satisfaction or a sense of inner wholeness—without which a normal person simply cannot live.

How can astrology help solve this problem? Being not merely the oldest science on Earth, but the progenitor of all sciences, astrology today continues to address the fundamental question for each of us—namely, the relationship between a person and the Universe. But not an abstract person and an abstract Universe, as many theoretical and applied sciences do, but a specific individual, their place and purpose in this world. We all understand well that a person is born not merely to eat and drink sweetly. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, but what distinguishes us from animals is our search for individual meaning in existence—we strive to find our place in the world, our unique purpose. Until we find it, we will have no peace. And here, neither psychotherapists, nor magicians, nor general practitioners will help.

Choosing a profession has only a utilitarian aspect. By engaging in a certain type of activity and socializing, we unfold our personal potential. Everyone knows that different professions require the development of specific character traits. For example, an accountant needs qualities such as attentiveness, meticulousness, analytical ability, and skill in working with concrete numbers—that is, all those qualities that teach a person to come down from the heavens to Earth, to be here and now. Paradoxically, this very type of work is necessary for overly dreamy individuals prone to depressive states. For them, accounting and work with concrete information help stabilize and organize their inner states.

People with a delicate psychological makeup need the opportunity for equally subtle self-expression. All professions related to the arts, human relationships, philosophy, and religion are created for them. Misunderstandings most often arise when such a child is born into a family of practically oriented people. Parents usually try to steer their child toward a direction familiar to themselves but alien to the child, and as a result, they often face alcohol or drug addiction and generally an “underachieving” son. It’s fortunate if they can still allow their child to follow an unfamiliar path—then each will have the chance to discover a new, uncharted world and thereby significantly improve their existence. For example, in my practice, there was a case where a mother involved in business was extremely worried about her son, who was seriously engaged in music, played in a wind orchestra at age 17, and had no intention of changing his specialty. Of course, she did not consider the musician’s profession suitable for a real man. But when we calculated his individual natal chart, it became clear that shifting toward a more practical field would lead either to alcohol or drug addiction, or simply to frequent depressions and general dissatisfaction with life. The mother calmed down and allowed her child to be himself, as a result significantly improving the family’s microclimate for both.

Reverse situations also occur, when parents try to push their child into intellectual fields or the arts, while the person is naturally more suited to concrete, practical specialties. Often years pass, draining energy and health, before a person finally arrives at their true profession, having already noticeably depleted their potential.

Astrological analysis of the natal chart helps examine the full complex of individual personality traits and inclinations toward specific types of activity. In a single session, without filling out questionnaires or multi-level surveys, astrology enables an objective assessment of each person’s individual characteristics and talents, inclinations toward certain activities, possibilities, and directions for personal and professional growth, and much more. Only a whole person, who has the opportunity to adequately realize themselves in the world, can fully experience the joy of being and be truly happy. In conclusion, I wish everyone success in finding their rightful place in the world, professional achievements, and personal happiness.
