Once, the Roman Emperor Tiberius asked his astrologer Thrasyllus whether he knew the time of his own death. One might assume that if Thrasyllus had named the exact date, the Emperor would have ordered his immediate execution to prove the astrologer’s incompetence. However, the seer quickly realized the danger and told the ruler that, due to the similarity of their horoscopes, Emperor Tiberius would outlive his astrologer by only one hour. These words dissuaded Tiberius from carrying out his intended “experiment.”
