Saturn-Pluto Quintile
(Transit Saturn → Natal Pluto)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Saturn’s quintile: Asceticism is a desire to focus on one way of life. This aspect often brings to the areas of the planet an interested-skeptical attitude toward life manifestations. Deep inside, the person strongly wishes for growth and flourishing, yet at the same time perceives numerous obstacles, doubts success, and yet awaits it, becoming deeply distressed by life’s failures and victories of stagnation, although never missing an opportunity to say: “I told you nothing good would come of these endeavors.” However, the individual becomes a suppressor of life manifestations in the planet’s spheres only at the lowest level of working with the quintile and Saturn, especially when these are strongly afflicted due to deep traumas inflicted upon their vulnerable life-affirming feelings. Usually, this aspect softens Saturn’s rigidity, providing beneath an outward strictness and discipline a desire to preserve life within the expressions of the planetary principle and to allow it room for development. When Saturn is afflicted, the person will hold overly certain and dogmatic views about exactly how this life should be and precisely how it should animate the forms in which it arises; when harmonious, the person will know how and when to support this life, though often will be too lazy to do so. Here, working through the aspect provides deep understanding of what occurs within stagnant forms (especially the most rigid and difficult ones, such as mathematical and metallic structures) when life begins to emerge within them, as well as insight into the developmental prospects of their specific manifestations and knowledge of which forms require assistance and which do not (an afflicted Saturn, without proper processing, may suffocate). Quintile of Pluto: When a young lamb appears in a dense forest teeming with predatory wolves, it is innocent of any wrongdoing, yet causes pleasant excitement. This is a highly ambiguous aspect, the interpretation of which depends not only on Pluto’s major aspects and those of the other planet, but also on the individual’s overall evolutionary level. Generally speaking, Pluto acts as an inspector of the quality of life and its forms within the planet’s spheres, and the person will have to experience permanent partings from some of them, which it is better to come to terms with internally in due time (after experiencing a certain mourning). On the other hand, Pluto primarily destroys parasitic life forms, and ultimately the person feels better after its influence, although inner worries and vermin—abundant within subconscious programs—sometimes appear in the person’s inner world quite appealing, at least if one does not look at them closely, and separating from them (especially when the planet is afflicted) feels like everything alive within is being killed, only for the person to understand much later that this was not actually the case. An afflicted Pluto makes this process harsher and more abrupt; a harmonious one, gentler—but in any case, the experiences (at lower and middle levels) will not be the most pleasant. This aspect provides sharp critical perception of life manifestations in the planet’s spheres, and when the quintile is afflicted, at a low level the person may become a dark life teacher, destroying not only its parasites but in effect all other expressions as well (though they will likely think otherwise)—the aspect of Sodom and Gomorrah and AIDS.
