Opposition, square: a person tends to cultivate their distinctive traits, striving to be “unlike everyone else.” In extreme cases, this tendency can lead to isolation from the world. They may also exploit these traits in the pursuit of unlimited power or withdraw from “worldly vanity” and pass judgment that no one needs.

Uranus opposition: Generally, the Lord expresses His wrath personally, and when hands are lowered, we resort to the services of others. The Uranus opposition presents the Planet with a challenging task: to reconcile with the principles of extraordinary events, suddenness, brilliant insights, and powerful energy. Therefore, it is natural for a person to attempt to identify with the Planet’s principle, resulting in Uranus’ manifestations often appearing externally as unexpected events and effects—far from always friendly (in areas related to the Planet)—which, beyond their direct meaning, should also be interpreted as karmic signs. Sometimes (a strong experience for the average person), the emphasis in the opposition shifts to the opposite side, and for a time, the focus moves to Uranus. During this period, unusual events may occur (both to and from the person), drastically altering their perspective on the world and themselves, with possible revelations and deep insights into the subconscious. However, sustaining Uranian energy (and its mental impulses) for long is difficult, and temporary madness either resolves itself with a shift back to the opposing planets or continues under the supervision of psychiatrists who balance the Uranus opposition with psychotropic drugs—a crude and far from the only method. Activating these can help relieve excess tension. The Uranus opposition grants the Planet brilliant ideas that initially seem utterly incompatible—not just with its own principle but with the current circumstances of its expression in the person’s life. In an unworked-out state, the person either fully submits to these ideas (risking life, psyche, and career) or completely ignores them (especially if the Planet is afflicted). Processing involves adapting these ideas to the Planet’s principle, granting brilliance, originality, and strength. At a high level, the Uranus opposition endows the person with stable creative abilities and genius insights in the Planet’s spheres of influence, as well as the ability to see and influence national and planetary karma.

Pluto opposition: Good is smeared in the struggle against evil. Generally, a major Pluto aspect karmically aligns the Planet with a program of purification—often painful but, most importantly, irreversible losses. At a low level, the opposition pits the Planet’s principle against Pluto’s cleansing actions; the person perceives these as destructive aggression directed at them (in the Planet’s spheres of influence) and resists. In such cases, they strongly emphasize the Planet, and Pluto manifests as an external force delivering (understandably) devastating blows to the innocent person, always striking the same spot (the Planet’s principle or the house where it resides). The person may complain (quietly), protest (loudly), or fight (desperately), but it is better to accept and, above all, understand that Pluto’s intent is not to destroy the Planet’s principle itself (e.g., with a Pluto–Moon opposition, the person may feel fate wants to destroy them along with their family, for reasons unknown). Sometimes (usually unnoticed by the person), the chart shifts the emphasis in the opposition, transferring the main focus to Pluto, turning the person into a conduit for the Absolute’s (fate’s) purifying will. They then impose on the Planet’s principle externally what fate recently imposed on them. Often, the external manifestation of the Planet occurs through certain individuals who fall under the fatal influence of the person, who may not even suspect it (though such suspicions arise over time). Strong dark teachers with a Pluto opposition can long maintain the focus on Pluto, brutally suppressing and destroying the Planet’s principle in their students, but eventually, Pluto’s blow catches up with them. Here, the primary work involves cultivating humility and eradicating the primitive desire for absolute control over the Planet’s manifestations in the external world, as well as the urge to reshape others, ruthlessly eliminating everything deemed vile and unworthy (e.g., a Pluto opposition to Venus may drive a desire for power over people’s minds and movements—not the higher octave of the 9th house, but a desire to ensure that “they dare not speak or even think what does not belong to me!”). The person must realize that their Planet’s principle can only be constructively used in external life after thorough Plutonic purification within themselves, requiring significant external and internal sacrifices. At a high level, the person gains the ability for the highest development of the Planet’s principle and participation in major karmic programs.
