The key word here is promise. Throughout many lifetimes, this individual has become entangled in duality, resulting in indecisiveness. He has tried to be everything to everyone and as a result conditioned himself for superficiality. Now he needs to learn the karmic lessons of dedication and loyalty. Eventually he will see that by playing both sides, he can only expect to become the trapped filling in a sandwich. Yet within him lives the fear from a past life of committing himself to either side, since at least on a surface level he sees truth and validity in both. He still believes that by aligning himself with one side, he will miss the favorable opportunity inherent in the other. This ability to remain unattached allows him to constantly adapt, responding to the needs of the moment. He changes color like a chameleon. In past incarnations he was not overly selective, knowing that it hardly mattered where he made his “entry fee,” since he never fully gave himself. Now he swings like a pendulum in the wind, open at least briefly to whatever is carried by the prevailing breeze. He deliberately makes himself a pawn and is even momentarily willing to agree with others in order to feel accepted and part of something. Throughout many lifetimes his sense of self-identity has not become a unified whole, but has instead been filled with the questions of everyone he came into contact with. Since so many people have shaped the bricks of this inner self, he may become nothing but a hypocrite! His facial expression and body language shift from one interaction to the next, and the person takes on the image of whomever he is currently trying to pass off as his own. In fact, when stating something, his eyes are always carefully studying the listener to see whether it was received as truth. If not, he will try other statements, hoping that somewhere within his collection of information a few words might be appropriate. He loves activity, and when circumstances back him into a corner, he becomes very nervous and restless. Always over-programmed, he tries to keep pace with the countless details and people that fill his life. He has so much to do, yet at the end of each day feels he has been distracted from his goal. In past incarnations he did not think deeply, and now spends much of his life constantly changing his mind. At some point in life, the individual decides where to live—whether in a large city or in the countryside. This is a conflict between the need from his past life to be among people and the desire in his present life to be far away from them. Life direction is almost always indicated by parents or someone older. This usually occurs after reaching the age of 28. At this point he is very unstable; he has been so busy examining the shades of gray in everything that he now struggles to see the light of truth within himself. For this individual, the most important life task involves the search for higher knowledge. Through the North Node in Sagittarius, he must learn that in order to see truth, a person must first become truthful within! He will go far if he learns to speak from his higher mind, since the esoteric meaning of everything he says will ultimately reveal to him his true individuality. By combining with transcendent thought, he will achieve spiritual union within himself. First, he must clear the path through the karma of clinging to trivialities and recognize that participation in gossip is the greatest sin against freedom. Then he must escape the lingering residue of pretended sophistication and embrace everything that is real and natural. Eventually he will come to understand that although a coin has two sides, it is still one coin! When he develops such a perspective, he will be able to transform acquired knowledge into Divine Wisdom. The house position of the South Node shows the area where conflicts of past individuality still trouble the lower mind. The house position of the North Node shows the paths by which Higher Consciousness can be developed as a means of expression and dissemination, allowing one to rise above all conflicts. Evolution in the present life will free him from the slavery of indecision and instead grant him glimpses of Universal Truth.
