Ketu in Virgo
Avesalom Podvodny. Planets in the Zodiac Signs
In the sphere of consciousness, this is the most difficult position of the Nodes. As a result of many lifetimes, the individual begins to become aware of their own rigidity. They recognize their patterns and how deeply they affect them, yet find it difficult to break free from them. In past lives, they perceived the Universe as limited, where everything was strictly structured. Now they see that truth extends beyond what their limited feelings can measure or even perceive. The individual inevitably faces situations, circumstances, and events that force them to “let go” of the physical plane. Nevertheless, they still try to live like a salmon—swimming against the current, ignoring the direction of natural forces. They continue to seek order. Their need for strict regulation is so strong that rigidity and ossification in the body increase pressure on the internal organs. They constantly suppress the desire to do what feels right, as they would prefer to maintain an image of respectability. In past incarnations, the individual built their understanding on facts rather than hearsay. Now they acknowledge only what comes from a “higher authority.” They seek ways to free themselves from the nervous agitation that continues to overwhelm and exhaust them, yet they impose conditions on their healing. The individual must learn to immerse themselves in the waters of Cosmic Consciousness, and in this baptism of the mind, they may experience a new birth. However, they must first overcome their karmic fear of living in a corrupt world. The individual enters this life believing the world is filled with dangers and thus constantly questions the people and circumstances they encounter. Anything unfamiliar poses a threat of disease—it is precisely this mindset that sometimes brings illness into being. In many people with this Node position, past-life sexual issues linger. Either the loss of sexual experience or a strong determination to avoid emotional wounds through it compels them to seek deeper understanding in life. Some become staunch puritans, while others can be physically sensitive yet emotionally cold at the same time. The individual’s mind is so analytical that life can easily turn into manipulation, like a game of chess. They have a sharp eye for detail, never overlooking the obvious. They are a master of solving puzzles. They spend hours groping for an answer, yet they can become so absorbed in what they do that they often lose perspective. Past-life meticulousness forces them now to dissect what should remain whole. Thus, while they possess extraordinary clarity of thought, they lack complete peace of mind. With the North Node in Pisces, they must learn Faith. When they stop dividing the world into neat little compartments, they will catch the first glimpses of Universal Consciousness. Ultimately, they must come to understand that all is One, and the One is all. Before this happens, they must stop seeing themselves as separate from the rest of the world. They will experience moments that compel them to become more compassionate. When their carefully laid plans crumble to nothing, they begin to see other people in a new light. Symbolically, they feel the pain of the entire Universe, which strengthens Divine Love, and they refuse to judge others. Familiarity with a spiritual way of life will be a great step forward for them. While the hand of the past still clings to the limitations they have imposed, the hand of the future reaches for a higher alternative. Only their inability to fully let go hinders the completion of their transition into a state of higher mind. Yet they reach a point where, at times, they glimpse it. Sometimes, their remarkable intuition reveals to them the mysterious essence of existence, but the memories of a past-life Virgo practicality make them doubt everything. Thus, halfway between one world and another, these mutable Nodes remain in constant flux. Arriving at their destination, the individual is unsure if they have reached it and thus keeps turning back to begin their journey anew. Each time they take another step into infinity, where they will eventually dissolve the shackles of their rigidly formed past and be reborn as pure Spirit. The house position of the South Node indicates the area of life where rigidity is still too deeply ingrained in an overly structured idea. The house position of the North Node shows how the soul can loosen its grip on all rigid definitions of form and structure to flow freely in the Ocean of God.
