Mars square: A razor used to sharpen a writer’s pen should not be used to chop cabbage. The Mars square imparts coarseness and disharmonious force to planetary expressions, which destroys the planet’s principle in all its subtle manifestations. This destruction occurs both in the inner and outer world, and if the person makes no effort to counteract it, the impact can be quite strong. Karmically, the Mars square signifies a prohibition against direct, immediate-energetic expression of the planetary principle (which never turns out harmonious or constructive) and a demand to work on its higher octave. Internally, the person remains deeply interested in the areas ruled by the planet; some inner force draws them there, and their perception of their abilities (and often achievements) in these areas may be very high, although failures and disappointments will not be long in coming. At a low level, such a person may occasionally be dangerous to others in the planet’s domains, but they always pose the greatest danger to themselves. In the case of a Mars square, the karmic law that repays for introducing disharmony into the world operates energetically and often quite swiftly (though sometimes the backlash affects only the person’s inner world, where internal destruction occurs—something that may remain unnoticed by others, except for the fact that the person’s overall level drops sharply). In inner life, this aspect allows for significant growth, awareness of one’s coarse subconscious programs, including nearly animal instincts, which in this case are presented very vividly and distinctly, especially when the planet is activated, and their transformation into a more civilized and acceptable form—that is, a shift toward higher vibrational energies. Proper integration enables working with the planet on subtle energy levels, revealing such nuances of its principle that are otherwise completely inaccessible. The person will know everything about the planet’s destructive power in its lower octave, giving them insight into its manifestations in others and the ability to help them work through its principle, especially in mastering their lower nature in the relevant spheres; however, they will still never fully master a free flow of its vibrations at a low level. For example, a Mars-Venus square may produce a refined sensualist or an excellent sexologist, but this person will never become a sexual giant. Chiron square: Having descended to the bottom of the life stream, one should not release bubbles without good reason. The Chiron square presents the person with strong, incomprehensible, and seemingly insurmountable developmental deadlocks in the planet’s areas of influence, which are slow to open. If the square is in the fixed cross, these may be minor dead ends constantly replacing one another, behind which, however, one major recurring deadlock can be discerned. The Chiron square indicates a karmic requirement to approach the planet and its associated issues in a nonstandard way—particularly by seeking their source in one’s own imperfection, disharmonious interaction of subconscious programs, and adherence to social stereotypes, which Chiron always overcomes, and in the case of a square, does so most intensely. The Chiron square does not allow the person to follow conventional views and stereotypes in the corresponding areas: they quickly lead action into a dead end, triggering immense chaos, behind which something significant lies hidden, though its nature remains unclear. At a moderate level, the person may develop a kind of black humor attitude—better than panic, but still not constructive. Here, the person needs to examine themselves, understand the role of the planetary principle in their life (both external and internal), and do something constructive from Chiron’s perspective—that is, to materialize certain subtle plans related to the planet. This usually appears as a materialized miracle, but one that can be taught to others. At a high level, this aspect brings breakthroughs into great creativity within the planet’s domains and the ability to uncover original talents in others, yet also brings a persistent sense of dissatisfaction—both with one’s methods and specific achievements—as if someone standing behind the person, with undisguised mockery escalating into outright derision, keeps asking: “And?” At a low level, the person may set themselves the goal of discrediting any creative expression of the planetary principle and may achieve a certain degree of success in this, especially regarding their own personal expression.
