Venus Square Chiron

Venus Square Chiron

(Transit Venus → Natal Chiron)

Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects

Venus Square: Human relationships are rarely truly human. The Venus square creates difficulties for a person in the areas governed by the planet, where social interactions often involve rudeness, poor mutual understanding, and the inadequacy of their own behavior in society. A person is drawn to others in the relevant spheres, craving love tinged with the planet’s principle (e.g., Jupiter—luxury), understanding, and deep involvement in social life. Yet in these matters, they are capricious, intolerant, fail to grasp much, and, most importantly, do not feel genuine connection with people. Relationships end in bitter disappointment.

Generally, karmic programs symbolized by a square often begin quite favorably and even promisingly, resembling a trine, but once a person becomes sufficiently engaged (emotionally, mentally, and existentially), they begin to feel resistance, burden, and the necessity of hard work. Even a Sun–Mars square may first manifest as a harsh blow of fate, for just as the initial joys and emotional attachments of a Venus square resemble an attractive adventure, the most unhappy (in hindsight) love still begins with bright moments—moments to which (even without a Venus square) one should always be cautious and attentive.

At a low level, the Venus square fosters disharmonious social egoism and, at the same time, self-sacrifice. In other words, if a person has weak energy, society does not accept them and delivers them into suffering without relief; if the person has sufficient strength, they themselves distort life for those around them, clumsily and crudely trying to exploit others for their own gain—leaving others worse off and themselves no better (beyond a fleeting moment, followed by disappointment).

In the areas influenced by the planet, this person will have very peculiar and sharp aesthetic preferences (sometimes crude), which are difficult to satisfy. At a low level, this results in capriciousness, while at a high level, it leads to an original creative style in art. Overall, the Venus square creates great difficulties on the path to art (though also a strong need for it), including poor teachers or strained relationships with them. If a person succeeds, they will grow primarily through inner effort and self-education, always feeling that they are their own best teacher—and will never be satisfied with anything less than true art (just as a Mercury square breeds irrepressible doubts: “Are my thoughts truly intelligent?” even when universally recognized). This is unpleasant, yet it prevents the person from settling for mediocrity—a trait characteristic of squares.

Chiron Square: When you’ve reached the bottom of life’s stream, don’t let bubbles rise without good reason. The Chiron square places a person in areas governed by the planet into strong, incomprehensible, and seemingly insurmountable dead ends that resist resolution. If the square is part of a fixed cross, these may be minor impasses that constantly shift, yet behind them lies one great, recurring obstacle. The Chiron square demands a karmic reckoning: to view the planet and its associated issues in a non-standard way, particularly by seeking their source in one’s own imperfections, the disharmony of subconscious programs, and adherence to social clichés—all of which Chiron overcomes, and in the case of a square, with the greatest intensity.

The Chiron square denies a person the ability to follow conventional views and stereotypes in the relevant spheres; they quickly lead to dead ends, unleashing chaos that conceals something—yet what exactly remains unclear. At an average level, a person may develop a black humor attitude, which is better than panic but still not constructive. Here, the individual must examine themselves, understand the role of the planetary principle in their life (both externally and internally), and do something constructive from Chiron’s perspective—materializing subtle plans tied to the planet. This usually manifests as a materialized miracle, yet one that can be taught to others.

At a high level, this aspect grants a breakthrough into great creativity in the spheres tied to the planet, along with the ability to uncover original talent in others. Yet it also brings a sense of dissatisfaction—both with one’s methods and specific achievements—as if someone behind the person, with undisguised mockery that turns into outright derision, whispers: “And?” At a low level, a person may set out to discredit any creative expression of the planetary principle and, to some extent, succeed—especially in relation to themselves.
