Semi-square Sun: The person must do more than fulfill God’s will; they must also consider that it is their own. This aspect makes the person’s will in the areas governed by the planet imperfect, sometimes too crude an instrument. Their initiatives often prove too straightforward (if the Sun is in Pisces or Cancer, the person will, accordingly, be too openly and awkwardly avoiding responsibility and hiding in their shell). If inclined toward self-observation, they may sometimes feel that their will is mixed with something foreign, deliberately crude and rough. A similar effect is observed in imperative external circumstances, which do not directly oppose or openly obstruct (a semi-square is not a square), but are harshly unfavorable and often actually destroy the most interesting, promising, or attractive moments for the person in the areas governed by the planet. If external conditions are favorable, an internal demon suddenly awakens, brutally roughening things, which the person cannot handle at the level of their lower will. Here, the work involves forming ideals and incorporating higher will and higher purpose, as well as carefully analyzing the subconscious programs that govern the interaction of the principles of will and the planet: somewhere here (a hint should be sought in situations where the houses occupied by the Sun and the planet are simultaneously active) the ego is deeply entrenched, buried in evolutionary patterns far below the person’s actual evolutionary level. Processing requires awareness and transformation of this program, after which the person gains the ability to exercise clear and subtle volitional control in the areas governed by the planet. At a low level, this aspect manifests in dictators who wield a rigid apparatus of external suppression and their victims.
Semi-square Pluto: The flour that sifts from the millstones of history is usually raw — stained with blood. At a low level, this aspect gives an overly schematic view of flaws and vices in the areas governed by the planet, overly straightforward methods, and rigid tools for their eradication. With strong energy, this can make a person a merciless tyrant, an unyielding leader dragging the people toward a bright future despite their desperate resistance. However, the same rigid tools will be felt by the person themselves, and here they will face one of the most unpleasant variants — a mechanical one, where the true causes of irreversible losses lie far beyond the person’s vision, and they are powerless to oppose fate. The karmic tasks of this aspect are to recognize the imperfection of their cleansing tools in the areas governed by the planet and the crudeness of their perception of the flaws in these areas, and, most importantly, to illuminate and eliminate or transform their evolutionary tails in the sphere of the planet. Only after this does the person acquire refined tools and vision in the areas governed by the planet, allowing them to separate the wheat from the chaff without crushing a single cow from the collective farm herd with their winnowing fan.
