Moon-Square Mercury (Sesquiquadrate)

Moon’s sesquiquadrate: In hardened people, there’s an iron shell around the heart; in sensitive ones, a plastic one. This aspect brings in the planetary spheres a general inner awkwardness and coarseness of perception, along with reflexive habits. For example, with a sesquiquadrate between Mars and Moon, at a low level a person best understands the language of violence and tends to express themselves in the same manner—this applies even to their inner life, meaning they are very harsh with themselves, possibly engaging in self-persecution, cornering themselves, reshaping their psyche without anesthesia, and so on. In the planetary spheres, at a low level this person may provoke mild irritation in others due to what seems like emotional coldness and a tendency to bluntly ignore anything they dislike, focusing only on their own (usually crude) needs, which they satisfy with iron determination. The person themselves usually doesn’t notice any of this, but sometimes—though not always—feeling others’ negative attitudes, they retreat into their egoism, considering such complaints unjust, groundless, and altogether incomprehensible. Indeed, working through this aspect is difficult and requires a strong desire for self-development and overcoming inner coarseness; it is extremely hard to bring this coarseness into consciousness because the censorship of the subconscious here is crude (just like the programs themselves) and often simply erases large chunks, leaving outright blank spots in memory and perception (the person says: “I don’t remember that at all, no matter what… and I somehow didn’t notice this at all, which is strange”). Working through this aspect leads to the ability to precisely and subtly manage at a distance the corresponding planetary fragments of the subconscious. Mercury’s sesquiquadrate: Truth expressed in words remains inaccessible to the person. This aspect brings in the planetary spheres an awkwardness of movement and coarseness of thought; the person, however, often remains unaware of this and insists stubbornly on their opinions. For example, a sesquiquadrate between Mercury and Moon may result in poor memory and rigid thinking, yet the knowledge and reasoning that are painfully acquired will be constantly exploited by the person and serve loyally—rightly or wrongly—where appropriate and even where inappropriate, and it is very difficult to rationally convince them otherwise. The sesquiquadrate of Mercury is extremely difficult to work through, because the person, usually sensing the limitations of their intellect in the planetary spheres, either gives up entirely in this regard or, conversely, diligently represses these flaws into the subconscious and convinces themselves of the unquestionable significance and power of their thoughts, refusing to accept any other way of thinking. At a low level of working through the aspect, but clothed with authority, this person may become an official ideologue in the planetary spheres, whose logical framework rests upon two foundational pillars: Conformity and Non-Conformity to the Sacred Truth, which has already been definitively discovered and irrevocably formulated in their works. At a high level of working through the aspect, the person attains subtlety and clarity of thought, capable of precisely directing effort and carefully constructing a mental model within the planetary spheres, whenever and to the extent this is possible.
