What Are Harmonics
Harmonics is a method in which all planetary longitudes in the natal chart are multiplied by a chosen number. The fifth harmonic chart is constructed by multiplying by five, the ninth by nine. The method was developed by British astrologer John Eddy.
The idea is that aspects that appear subtle in the regular chart become conjunctions in the corresponding harmonic and come to the forefront.
Which Harmonics Are Used Most Often?
The fifth harmonic is traditionally linked with talents and creativity, the seventh with inspiration and ideals, the ninth with inner maturity and marriage; in Vedic tradition, the ninth corresponds to the navamsa division.
Does a Harmonic Replace the Natal Chart?
No. A harmonic is a magnifying glass for one specific theme, not an independent chart. It is read alongside the natal chart; otherwise, conclusions will be disconnected from the person’s real life.
Is an Exact Birth Time Required?
For analyzing aspects between planets, the date is sufficient. However, if you want to examine the houses of the harmonic chart, an exact time is mandatory, as it determines the Ascendant.
