Despite the fact that astrology was officially non-existent in the USSR, reprinted horoscopes (the so-called “samizdat”) were actively distributed across the country. There is a general belief that people start believing in horoscopes and astrology (as well as other predictions) when there is nothing else left to believe in. The Soviet authorities took God away from the people, and many began searching for a replacement.
