International Astrology Day
International Astrology Day is an unofficial holiday for those who create astrological forecasts and psychological profiles based on the positions of the planets at the moment of a person’s birth. The date for its celebration was chosen deliberately—on March 20, the day of the spring equinox, a new astrological year begins.
Strictly speaking, the equinox does not always fall on the 20th; occasionally (very rarely in modern times) it occurs on the 19th or 21st of March. However, to establish a fixed date for the holiday, it was decided to use the average date.
The emergence of this holiday was initiated by Western astrologers, who for over a decade have been holding themed corporate events and conferences on March 20. The fact that such a holiday appeared in the West is not surprising—as statistics show, 50% of the U.S. population believes in horoscopes. Russian specialists, on the other hand, have been observing this Day for only 3–4 years, and it is unlikely to ever become official in our country.
Nevertheless, even if astrology is considered a “pseudoscience,” its popularity, as well as the experience of millions of astrologers, proves otherwise. Those who live by the lunar calendar or consult fortune-tellers for personal horoscopes are convinced that professional astrological forecasts provide not only information but also the opportunity to change something in their future. And, in the grand scheme of things, they are right.
