Kabbalistic Astrology :: Part 3. — PLANETS Part 4

In the horoscope of a firm, the Moon and its aspects reveal the main directions and characteristic problems related to supporting its internal and external existence. Typical lunar issues include securing raw materials, repairing equipment, any form of care for its own employees, as well as clients and consumers of its products. A radio receiver not only needs to pick up certain frequencies—the knobs for tuning it should be made of a material pleasant to the touch and of a convenient shape; a doorbell should not announce the arrival of guests to everyone, including all the neighbors; it would also be wise to consider a special device in the shower that sanctifies the water flowing through it, so that along with soap it washes away the sins of the consumer as well. Typical lunar positions in a firm are linked to preparation and maintenance, or, in other words, creating an environment that supports core activities. Secretaries, referents, assistants, facility managers, suppliers, and cleaners largely operate on lunar energies, enabling employees in other positions to work or assisting them in their tasks. What is characteristic of lunar activity is that it is indispensable, yet by itself it is secondary—it supports someone else’s existence or efforts. A strong Moon gives a firm where a significant portion of efforts goes into what may seem like unproductive work on establishing its own internal life, and self-sufficiency can be quite costly. However, these efforts are necessary; otherwise, the firm becomes mired in filth and conflicts, and production collapses. On the other hand, by providing proper conditions for diligent employees and parting ways with the laziest and most disorderly ones, the firm can achieve great professional heights in serving its clients.

The Moon in Virgo is a serious test for the firm’s management, which must firmly grasp that its care for employees and the firm’s affairs is perceived by the team only when it has a fully material embodiment. Spotless windows in office premises mean as much to this team as personal praise from the director for a firm with the Moon in Leo, or regular reporting under the Moon in Capricorn. The Moon’s position in the firm’s horoscope reveals the best way to uplift the team’s mood and simultaneously the shortest path to deeply offend them, and ultimately destroy the firm altogether. The Moon in Libra is well-suited for installing a tennis court, while the Moon in Scorpio, if not overly afflicted, might suggest organizing an erotic show on holidays.

In the horoscope of a book, the Moon reveals the main female images and characters, as well as the stylistic and other techniques the writer uses to describe them. Under the Moon, such themes and plots flourish as the people (in general) and nationality, motherhood (happy and unhappy), dependent childhood, agriculture, life in nature, male friendship, as well as hunting scenes, fishing, and descriptions of various feasts—from monastic to lavish banquets. An afflicted Moon is more likely to present care as a problematic theme: for instance, the plot of a novel may revolve around the protagonist desperately needing true feminine love, which (in the author’s view) is devoted care and understanding of the hero’s delicate soul, yet he keeps encountering entirely wrong women—until, finally, he finds the right one. Conversely, a harmonious Moon can turn a book into a veritable idyll on domestic and gastronomic themes; if the Sun is also afflicted, it may result in a decent action or detective story where the hero sleeps long and eats well but is constantly on the brink of life and death, fending off various enemies, and at the moment of his salvation, an uneaten pumpkin saves him, with a traitorous bullet lodged in its flesh; the same role could be played by an armored sweater knitted by a loving woman, whom the hero marries in the end.

A weak Moon is characteristic of works with a heroic and ascetic pathos, such as a song beginning with the lines:
“Enough about lawful wives, already:
Can they understand our sorrows?
Well, the glimmers of blizzards outside the window—
Cannot be calmed, cannot be calmed, cannot be calmed.
How much we wandered the world in vain…”

and so on. The Moon’s position in a sign subtly, and often unnoticed by the author himself, gives the main emphasis in descriptions of female figures, especially in scenes of feminine care. For example, with the Moon in Libra, the primary sign of her quality will be the ethereal sensations of a man after a meal prepared by his beloved or as a result of intimacy with her. The conflict between the spiritual and material principles in this case might be described in a dialogue in bed:
— Vanya, do you love me?
— What am I doing?

In contrast, with the Moon in Cancer, the feminine essence of a partner will be shown through her extraordinary emotional resilience, where the most terrible male words and outbursts are silently and patiently ignored, because the feminine nature suggests to the heroine: “The dog barks—the wind carries it away?”

The levels of development of lunar energy are identified, like those of solar energy, by the seven planets; let us consider them in sequence.

Moon – Sun
A karate student masters defensive techniques. This is the energy of care for the vital needs of an object (including oneself), or the support without which it would perish after some time. Lunar-solar energies govern systems of security, insurance companies, and doctors engaged in prevention and early diagnosis of severe and incurable diseases. Everyday lunar-solar situations: a mother takes a child by the hand to cross the street; a driver brakes at a traffic light; a student pulls out a cheat sheet. Typical lunar-solar professions include nurses caring for severely ill patients (especially those in the solar-lunar phase of recovery or dying), psychotherapists restoring clients’ mental health after severe stress or suicide attempts, intelligence operatives, and chief accountants of enterprises, among others. A characteristic lunar-solar activity is preparing for a difficult expedition or, more broadly, for a risky endeavor that could fail due to the slightest carelessness or oversight.

Working with lunar-solar energies with the Moon in Capricorn can produce a designer of space rockets, the head of a polar station, the leader of a gang specializing in bank robberies, or the head of a nuclear power plant’s security department. Lunar-solar energies with the Moon in Leo shake a concert hall listening to a modern rock band with decibels at the level of a jet engine taking off, but they are far more emotionally impactful in fine theatrical tragedies designed for the lunar-solar vibrations of the river Moon.

A lunar-solar situation in a firm is the threat of a serious strike and its beginning (after which a solar-lunar situation arises). If the firm’s Moon is in Aquarius, management should consider adjusting development priorities and principles of profit distribution. If it is in Sagittarius, special attention should be paid to the nature of negotiations, for they are not as absurd as they may seem at first glance.

Moon – Moon
A primitive tribe after a successful hunt. Moon–Moon is joyful motherhood that begins when the immediate threat to the newborn’s existence disappears, the infant shows a wonderful appetite, quickly gains weight, and blissfully plays, rattling a rattle. At this stage, nothing is required of it except boundless prosperity, which is diligently maintained by the external environment represented by wet nurses, nannies, and doting parents. Lunar-lunar energies are often perceived in contrast to solar-solar ones: the former guarantee safety and emphasize maximizing benefit from existing circumstances for a while, without worrying or causing worry to others. So the soldier comes home on leave, the vacationer lounges on the beach, the mountaineer descends into the valley, the company secures a long-term loan, and warring parties sign a firm peace treaty. On the Moon-Moon vibrations, Adam and Eve dwelled in paradise before the Fall, and while modern man might find it bland and dull, it is undeniably stable. Notably, many fairy tales begin with a descent from Moon-Moon vibrations (initial well-being) to Moon-Sun (direct threat arises), then to Sun-Moon (the threat materializes), and finally to Sun-Sun (the hero faces death’s threshold), after which energy levels gradually rise—one could interpret the tale’s meaning as a robust, self-sufficient peasant household. The symbol of Moon-Moon energy is a layer of fat, signifying the stability of prosperity and its reserves. However, excess fat quickly attracts parasites, which the Moon-Moon state spawns in abundance.

The dream of a sponsor is nothing more than a desire for Moon-Moon energy in Taurus, which would support a brilliant idea (a buddhic program) lacking sufficient causal embodiment. Moon-Moon energy in Libra manifests in the finest results of massage therapists, physical therapy specialists, and dietitians, while Moon-Moon energy in Scorpio shines in a cheerful circus performance (for example, the ethereal acrobatics of clowns). The challenge inherent in Moon-Moon situations is their stability—it’s often unclear what constitutes progress for them: from prosperity to even greater prosperity, which usually means prosperity for its own parasites? The solution lies either in descending to the Moon-Sun level—unpleasant, as it involves substantial cleansing—or ascending to the Moon-Mercury level.

Moon-Mercury The bodybuilder prepares for competition. Moon-Mercury energies denote structural care for an object, as well as care for its structure (not the same thing). A typical Moon-Mercury vibration accompanies a parent’s attention to a child’s diet and the balance of foods in their meals; later, parents regulate (or try to regulate) the child’s daily routine, influence their hobbies and circle of friends, and sometimes attempt to shape their worldview, explaining the order of the world and principles of social interaction—but always with the sole aim of helping the child, not through coercion. The moment coercion arises, the situation transforms into Sun-Mercury or Mercury-Moon.

Moon-Mercury concerns arise in the head of a laboratory when its size exceeds a certain threshold and the need for further structuring becomes evident—for example, transforming it into a department or establishing auxiliary coordinating systems within it. In a household, Moon-Mercury functions might be represented by a special box with compartments for knives, forks, dinner spoons, dessert spoons, and teaspoons. Many couples—both those with good and bad but clearly unresolved relationships—suffer from a chronic lack of Moon-Mercury energy. The author does not claim that structuring a couple’s relationship with each other and with their shared egregore is a panacea for all troubles, but even if a pair feels perfectly content in itself, endlessly wallowing in Moon-Moon energies won’t work. Over time, minor misunderstandings and mutual miscommunication inevitably arise, requiring periodic attention to the form and manner in which this is addressed.

Love and care alone are insufficient—they must also be appropriate and timely, and only the most naive would dismiss this as unimportant. A typical Moon-Mercury situation in a novel is a heroine preparing for marriage. With the Moon in Capricorn, she meticulously plans the entire program of her future life, step by step; with the Moon in Aquarius, she will try to establish the necessary contacts for marriage in advance; with the Moon in Leo, she will focus on the wedding dress and the groom’s suit; and with the Moon in Pisces, she will carefully select the most suitable prayers for the occasion.

Moon-Venus The children prepare gifts for their mother’s birthday. At some point, every parent realizes that no matter how strictly a routine is maintained, it alone is insufficient for a child’s full flourishing—something more is needed. A gardener tending vegetables, a homemaker precisely following a complex recipe, and even a draftsman creating an ink sketch from a pencil drawing find themselves in a similar situation. This missing energy is the energy of Divine love, without which even the most meticulously differentiated care becomes a hollow formality. Moon-Venus vibrations often express themselves through an aesthetic accent that softens Moon-Mercury rigidity. In Russian, the Moon-Venus effect is created by numerous diminutive and affectionate suffixes, which vanish entirely in Moon-Mercury language. Thus, a Moon-Mercury mother in a novel might say to her son: “I’ve prepared you lunch: for the first course, cabbage soup with beef; for the second, cutlets and potatoes with mushrooms and pickles; and for dessert, compote with apples”—a text that sounds perfectly normal in English. In situations where Moon-Venus is accented, it might go: “Here, sweetheart, I’ve made you some little cabbage soup with beefy bits for the first course, and for the second, some tender little cutlets with potatoes, mushrooms, and pickles, and for dessert, a nice little compote with apples.” At a Moon-Moon table, there will be plenty of food, but it will be simple and coarse, lacking special delicacies, and the utensils will consist of bowls, spoons, and kitchen knives—at best, aluminum forks. The dishes will be undifferentiated (cold appetizers, hot dishes, sweets, etc.). The key here is a warm smile and a gentle tone accompanying the (structured) care. “High” fashion or, say, underwear designed to attract the opposite sex transmits different vibrations—specifically Venus-Jupiter and Venus-Moon.

Moon-Mars Antaeus holds up the celestial vault. This is the energy of professional-level care—not amateurish. Here, Moon-Venus love finds its adequate expression in precise gestures, forms, and actions. For example, with the Moon in Aries, Moon-Mars energy can revive a dying man if he has not yet completed his mission and still harbors some desire to finish it; the same energy with the Moon in Sagittarius helps a true Christian forgive enemies seventy times over and bless those who curse him, without hypocrisy or repression of negative feelings. Mastering Moon-Mars energies with a Capricorn Moon is essential for a professional manager, and Moon-Venus vibrations alone with a Taurus Moon are insufficient to achieve any significant value: any demanding endeavor requires professional-level care. What Moon-Mars energy means in each case must be examined individually: proper protection and support demand a deep understanding of the object, its developmental patterns, urgent needs, typical and specific ailments, and the ability to manage it all effectively. For example, a baby’s room must be ventilated, but not chilled, or the child may catch a cold (Moon in Libra); sex education for a child must be handled tactfully and delicately, organically weaving the biological aspect of relations between the sexes into the broader social context (Moon in Scorpio).

The reader may notice that Mars’ professionalism kills Venus’ warmth, and in Moon vibrations, this is especially unpleasant and can extinguish them entirely.Such a view is fair, but it does not negate the need for professionalism; rather, in the case of the Moon, it makes it particularly complex. However, a truly professional nurse knows how to give each patient the right amount of emotional warmth based on their specific concerns, doing so individually without taking on too much of another’s karma, remaining inaccessible to astral and other entities that feed on human suffering, which abound in abundance.

Moon — Jupiter
A lawyer stands in court delivering a speech in defense. This is the theme of comprehensive care or the problem of patching holes in protective structures and measures. In medicine, it is well known that there is no panacea for all diseases: no single method, no matter how perfect, can cure everything, and a serious doctor must necessarily be a universalist.

The need for Moon-Jupiter vibrations arises when the object reveals a synthetic nature, and all its parts and details turn out to be interconnected. In such cases, absolutely unexpected needs often arise, and qualitatively new dangers materialize — for example, disruptions in the existing system of connections, their insufficiency, or poor quality of the object’s functioning.

A good specialist doctor masters a particular treatment method for “their” organ — but as a result, another organ may fall ill, which another specialist will treat, possibly also on a Moon-Mars level. However, if after this second treatment something else in the patient falls ill or a relapse of the first disease occurs, we can assume that the patient requires professional help of a higher level — Moon-Jupiter; in such cases, a medical “luminary” is sought or a council is gathered (unfortunately, the egregore of modern Western medicine is not inclined to particularly involve group work — civilization’s emphasis on processing details at the expense of a deeper understanding of the whole).

Moon-Jupiter energy is highly valued in pair and family egregores — if it is sufficient, the partner and family members feel a sense of one hundred percent protection: “I am behind him like a stone wall,” says a happy wife or mother. If you ask her how this effect is achieved, the answer is unlikely to be clear, but in any case, it is implied that the partner takes care of all essential matters and patches holes in protection as they arise, without waiting for them to become serious.

Moon-Jupiter energy, of course, does not provide insurance for all of life’s cases — but it is care for the object as a whole and ensuring its needs, supporting its structure and functions in the form it requires.

Moon — Saturn
Wandering beggars ask Ilya Muromets for help. This is the energy of care for a synthetic object that exists independently in the world.

A characteristic Moon-Jupiter situation: a mother prepares her grown daughter for marriage; a characteristic Moon-Saturn situation: a mother cares for her married daughter who leads an independent life.

Moon-Saturn situations are typically characterized by their low controllability: the object of care indeed lives independently, sometimes completely detached from life, and help can usually only be provided minimally and only by fully integrating into its reality. Here, as a rule, no barriers can be set, and threats cannot be decisively averted — at best, they can only be slightly postponed or slightly altered in nature.

Moon-Saturn vibrations are needed when caring for the elderly who have largely lived their lives and have, one way or another, formed their subtle bodies; zodiacal transits here proceed quietly, and any strong changes threaten catastrophe — yet life must go on, and such people need precisely Moon-Saturn care, perhaps not too visible or weighty, but accurately found and sustained.

A typical Moon-Saturn parasite often hides behind the object’s slogan: “Accept me as I am and care for my needs as I imagine them!” True Moon-Saturn care happens in such a way that the object barely notices it, attributing it to random coincidences, luck, or directly to the will of God, and in essence, the latter interpretation is closest to the truth.

The Lord cares for us exceedingly subtly so as not to restrict our freedom (conscious or unconscious) as embodied microcosms, fully allowing us to live in a world entirely of our own making.

Now let us consider the position of the Moon in the horoscope. A strong Moon means that the theme of caring for someone or something, as well as, not least, for one’s own body, will constantly arise in a person’s life, sometimes manifesting as an inner need, but often also as an unavoidable necessity.

The variety of protective forces gives rise to many problems, primarily related to the proper distribution of lunar energy — otherwise, it begins to create unworthy protective means and spawn parasites.

A strong Moon tells a person: “The most important area of life is prosperity, free and unobstructed development and reproduction within well-protected and fortified boundaries” — but whether it should be the person themselves or someone else who prospers, and what exactly these external fortifications should be, is decided by the person themselves, strengthening the armor of their egoism or the boundaries of their family, their people, or the entire world.

The Moon is a very existential planet, since the question of what concerns you or what you care for is the question of what truly moves you, and for a person with a strong Moon, this area should not be too narrow — except in rare cases of highly focused but deep care.

A state with a strong Moon will face many difficulties in governing its people, but if it manages to reconcile with them, it will become prosperous and powerful; in any case, its people will feel a sense of some mystical unity, and in exchange for prosperity, they may forgive more — a transphysical goal pointed out by the Collective Soul.

A company with a strong Moon requires great care for itself and its employees, and it will not get far on pure enthusiasm alone. Here, the Cosmos merely allocates large deductions from profits for workplace improvements, various support funds, social insurance, and so on. With improper management from above (which is likely with a tense aspect between the Sun and the Moon), squabbles easily arise, “undermining” of some employees by others, unfair and uneven distribution of workloads and salaries, etc., and it is extremely difficult to combat all this with administrative methods — here, management must act “in each specific case, as it arises and as is needed (and possible).”

However, lunar conflicts are most often the result of an unhealthy atmosphere that is better to address in advance.

A weak Moon gives a person generally naturally ascetic inclinations, though often stricter toward others than toward themselves. Such a person often genuinely does not understand that care is something truly necessary, not a whim, a fancy, or softness. This accentuation is especially pronounced with a strong Sun: having created a world, the person believes this is more than enough, and somehow life will sort itself out — or if not, then so be it, it’s not their fate to live, and another world can be created.

When a person with a weak Moon still needs to care for someone, they usually do so with a heavy heart, as a tedious routine, or try to shift to the energy of other planets (usually choosing the strongest in their horoscope). For example, a woman with a weak Moon and a strong Venus might start cleaning her apartment by dusting picture frames and figurines, then spend a long time arranging chairs and armchairs to achieve perfect harmony… but forget to mop the floor in the dirty kitchen, especially in hidden corners where cockroaches lurk.On the other hand, a weak Moon frees a person from a multitude of vain temptations and makes life easier in difficult conditions — the only thing they must learn is that others may not be arranged the same way at all. Special problems arise when the weak Moon is in the zodiac sign where it is located — here the person must still learn to care for themselves and others, no matter how unnatural such an occupation seems to them in principle. For example, the Moon in Gemini requires working through the theme of care through analyzing the events happening to the person, dead ends, and here care for another is expressed not in fluffing a pillow or reheating soup on time (Moon in Virgo), but in the ability to look at what is happening through another’s eyes, to see their dull way of interpreting and resolving it.

A harmonious Moon gives a person a comfortable worldview, something like a sense of general protection from fate and the ability to extend this protection to loved ones. This often means inner softness, but also an inability to gather themselves in certain responsible situations, especially when protection from a person (or even for themselves) becomes a matter of extraordinary importance. In general, a harmonious Moon promotes good-naturedness, especially in situations with low solar energy where there is no need to resolve cardinal questions like “to be or not to be,” and tends to breed parasites if the person does not at least minimally tend to them — and in this case, it is typical. The nature of the parasites depends primarily on the Moon’s position in the sign.

A firm with a harmonious Moon will easily obtain loans far exceeding its actual needs and will hardly be able to spend or invest the surplus wisely; however, the stingiest director (who, by the way, is unlikely to hold their position long) can significantly reduce its seemingly excessive expenses, especially internal ones — the team will understand them.

A paired union with a harmonious Moon and a very weak Sun is described in Gogol’s story “Old-World Landowners,” where a sweet elderly couple cares exclusively about the comfort and kindness of each other’s lives — primarily in the culinary aspect.

From a harmonious Moon, one can easily receive minor (for it) support; but do not expect it to sacrifice the last shirt: even if, under pressure from harsh solar or other circumstances, it does so, it will simultaneously fill the air with so many sad sighs, complaints, and lamentations that you will regret being nearby.

An afflicted Moon, despite many inconveniences, has one undeniable advantage: it constantly invigorates its owner, preventing them from indulging in cozy drowsiness, becoming prey to parasites, or worse — turning into one themselves.

An afflicted Moon in Virgo will not be disturbed by a pile of dirt on the floor and will either accept it as part of the landscape, no better than in other areas, or will scrub it clean — perhaps taking off a layer of parquet varnish.

An afflicted Moon sharply raises the issue of protection and support — but it is the subject of the horoscope, i.e., the person, the couple, the family, etc., who must resolve it. In an individual chart, an afflicted Moon most often signifies the inability to solve personal problems while remaining within oneself, and the person is literally pushed into external activity where they simply distract themselves from personal issues — such as dissatisfaction of any kind, difficulties with parents, authorities, a spouse, children, power structures — none of this helps.

The worst thing for an afflicted Moon is to set personal well-being as a goal, because in the general social sense, it will not achieve it anyway, and along the way, it will accumulate a host of complexes that will later be very difficult to work through.

A person who constantly catches colds can be advised to dress warmer or harden themselves, but with an afflicted Moon in Libra, the second option is clearly better, even if the path to health turns out to be thorny and painful.

With an afflicted Moon in Taurus, it is very important to learn to correlate one’s actions with values and not support others’ programs without at least aligning them on a buddhic level with one’s own — here there is a high chance that the best intentions will lead straight to hell.

Instead, a worked-through afflicted Moon provides the opportunity to support the most seemingly hopeless ideas and objects, helping them reach heights of development that would initially be hard to imagine.

The Moon in signs shows the type of protection and support a person most needs and, on the other hand, is capable of providing to others. This does not mean that if the Moon in a personal horoscope is in Aries, the person does not need Taurus-style support — but it is precisely in the Aries channel that all their situations resonate when they need help, and conversely, they give it outwardly, so working through lunar energy should be done primarily in this lunar zodiacal channel.

Additionally, the lunar sign reveals the characteristic complex of deficiency or insecurity in a person — the area where they (subconsciously) always lack support, where they seek it and never find it. In other words, if the Sun in a sign shows the main source of life energy and simultaneously the main life phobia — what the person fears to death — then the Moon in a sign shows the main source of supportive strength and at the same time the sphere where support is chronically lacking: they are close, and one of the main tasks of a person’s inner development and self-knowledge is
