Neptune in Capricorn
Het Monster: Neptune in Capricorn, the sign of conservatism and tradition. Most children whose parents will read this book have or will have Neptune in Capricorn. The approximate period of their birth (1984–98) began during President Reagan’s term, a time that glorified “traditional” values. Religious revival (in the previous period) of fundamentalist forms of Christianity was dominant and loud. Conservatives held power, which was respected. But over time, the illusion began to crumble. Televangelists found themselves embroiled in scandals. Doubts arose about the Reagan administration. The vast illegal drug trade allowed too many people to escape the reality of the impending collapse of order without considering any viable alternative idea. Now we face a massive, incredible deficit, a new president who wants to “rebuild the government from the ground up,” yet must work amid many whose illusions still cling to restoring an idealized past rather than creating a new ideal. Let us hope your children will help find this ideal, and it will emerge in a new and healthy reality.

Generation 1984–1997.
Here, Neptune is in the domicile of Uranus and Saturn, in the exaltation of Mars, in the detriment of the Moon and Isis, and in the fall of Jupiter and Selena, in the Earth element. During this era, humanity transitions from abstract spirituality to stricter spiritual discipline (Saturn in Capricorn is in its domicile). This generation experiences a shift in worldview; it is a generation of ascetics subordinated to a single goal. You have clarity of feeling, and since 1984, Capricorn has acquired sentimentality. The exaltation of Mars grants your generation strength and accomplishment. The Earth sign commands you to integrate spirituality into daily life. This is a time of cosmic reckoning with the Piscean era and a period of reflection on the future. At this moment, honesty is being tested, and the right direction is being sought for each person. Mystical energy is concentrating, occult sciences are gaining recognition, and new discipline and hierarchy emerge in society. China, under the sign of Capricorn, responded to Neptune’s entry into this sign by reviving Buddhism and introducing the New Economic Policy (NEP). Those who survive the Piscean era and Neptune’s station in Capricorn will reach great heights in spiritual development. In the worst case, your generation is prone to chaos and the breakdown of economic and political structures. Within your personality, dogmatism, fanaticism, a lack of spiritual flexibility, and ideals combined with indifference to the concrete needs of people manifest. You are characterized by pessimism, secrecy, spiritual disillusionment. Your feelings are suppressed, you feel abandoned, homeless, as if standing over an abyss.

The fall of higher planets is always a difficult issue to process. Neptune clouds the mind of Capricorn, blurring its clarity of vision regarding the external world and whispering a dozen subtle interpretations of events, all equally distant from the truth. This generation is inclined toward mysticism; it is unsatisfied with concrete earthly matters and goals achieved by its own efforts, requiring them to be filled with hidden or religious meaning. Thus, Neptunian Capricorn dissolves the existing forms of human organization into labor, national, and political communities and creates new ones, united by more nebulous and often deceptive foundations—yet initially more emotionally acceptable. There is little constructive here, except that rigid outdated forms, which faster planets could not overcome for a long time, are dissolving and dying. Only under favorable aspects of Pluto and Uranus (which occurred around 1992, when Neptune conjoined Uranus in Capricorn in sextile to Pluto in Scorpio) and with great prior preparation can situations arise where communities of people emerge, directed toward constructive activity and more spiritual pursuits. Cosmic love of Neptune manifests in Capricorn last, when people are already prepared to perceive spiritual teachings, and the main sores of collective unconsciousness—especially personal, family, and national egoism—are worn out. There is hope that the generation born at the end of the 20th century under the sextile of Neptune in Capricorn to Pluto in Scorpio (1984–1995) will create types of organization and forms of human work that will become the foundation of the entire Aquarian era.

You were born during a 14-year period when conservative people emerged, devoted to tradition in spiritual aspirations and religious views. Your age group returns to traditional foundations in religion as well as traditional styles in music and art. Classical music and literature gain new life in your age group, and you are inspired by the works of outstanding representatives of past art, music, literature, and philosophy. Regarding religion, your age group takes a contemplative stance and reflects; you approach religious questions objectively and logically. Many in other age groups criticize yours for a lack of warmth and compassion. Sometimes this is fair, judging by the extraordinary cunning, manipulation, and deception that exist at the highest levels of society—in government and big business.
