Why It’s Important to Prepare for an Astrologer’s Consultation
A consultation with an astrologer is not a fortune-telling session but a structured conversation based on your natal chart. The better you prepare, the more valuable and practical information you will receive within the allotted time.
Many clients arrive with a vague request, “Tell me everything about myself,” and receive general information. Those who come with specific questions leave with a clear action plan and a deep understanding of their situation.
Step 1: Prepare Accurate Birth Data
To create your natal chart, the astrologer needs:
- Date of birth (day, month, year)
- Exact time of birth (to the minute)
- Place of birth (city, country)
Where can you find your birth time? Check your birth certificate, ask your mother or relatives, or contact the maternity hospital or registry office. If the time is unknown, inform the astrologer in advance—they can perform rectification or work without a house system.
Step 2: Formulate Specific Questions
Write down 5–7 questions that concern you the most in advance. Here are some productive examples:
- Relationships: “Why do I keep repeating the same relationship patterns?”, “What are my needs in a partnership?”
- Career: “Which professional field best suits my abilities?”, “When is the best time to change jobs?”
- Personal development: “What are my strengths that I should rely on?”, “What should I work on?”
- Children: “How can I best support my child’s development considering their natal chart?”
- Forecasts: “What themes will be relevant for me in the coming year?”
Step 3: Set Priorities
The consultation time is limited (usually 60–90 minutes). Rank your questions from most important to less urgent. The astrologer can thoroughly address 3–5 key topics rather than superficially touching on twenty.
Step 4: Record Key Dates and Events
Prepare a timeline of important events in your life—this helps the astrologer verify the interpretation of your chart:
- Dates of significant relationships (start, breakup)
- Job changes, moves
- Crisis moments and turning points
- Birth dates of your partner and children (if relevant)
Step 5: Let Go of Preconceptions
Astrology is not about predicting the future down to the day. It is a system of symbols and archetypes that describes tendencies, potential, and inner processes. Stay open to a new perspective, even if it doesn’t align with your expectations.
Don’t expect the astrologer to give direct advice like “You should break up” or “Change your job.” A good astrologer presents a map of possibilities and helps you make an informed choice.
Step 6: Bring a Notebook or Voice Recorder
During the consultation, you’ll receive a lot of information that’s hard to remember at once. Write down key points or ask for permission to record the session. Most astrologers don’t mind—it helps you revisit the material later.
Step 7: Choose the Format and Time
Modern astrologers work both offline and online (Zoom, Google Meet). Pick the format that allows you to feel most comfortable and focused.
Schedule the consultation for a time when you won’t feel rushed. After the session, leave yourself 20–30 minutes of quiet time to reflect on what you’ve heard and jot down your first impressions.
What NOT to Do Before the Consultation
- Don’t read too many interpretations in advance—this can create bias and hinder your ability to absorb new information.
- Don’t arrive in a state of high stress—if possible, reschedule to a calmer day.
- Don’t expect magical solutions—astrology provides understanding, but action is up to you.
What Happens After the Consultation
Give yourself a few days to process the information. Reread your notes or listen to the recording. Often, the deepest insights come not during the session but a day or two later, once the information has “settled.”
If new questions arise, write them down. Many clients return for a follow-up consultation in 6–12 months to review forecasts and explore new topics.
