The Critic. This person acutely and emotionally perceives group matters, especially any imperfections, deficiencies, and shortcomings within the collective. He dislikes hidden dirt, but even more so he dislikes empty chatter. Therefore, when he speaks, his criticism sounds serious and weighty, though likely too emotional: he may “ignite” the entire collective, especially with a strong Scorpio influence, and force it to reconsider many views, including established ones; he is capable of demonstrating the intolerance of many conditions that everyone has grown accustomed to and ceased to notice as abnormal. If Scorpio is afflicted, many of the person’s views on life and criticisms of the group’s work will diverge from the general group opinion, and his criticism may seem (and indeed be) excessively hostile, destructive, and unfair. The group may easily label the person a troublemaker, although his words will contain more truth than the group would like to admit. The remedy lies in seeking common ground with the group and moderating one’s emotional intensity; if this is not done, the person may become a victim of their own disharmonious behavior: the group will corner them and meet any activity, even the most innocent (in their view), with preemptive aggression. A harmonious Scorpio provides an accurate picture of the situation, and most importantly, the socially acceptable group will say: “How precisely he expressed what has been hurting all of us, and moreover, offered an excellent way out of the situation!” In a harmonious Scorpio, especially only at the level of the eagle, there will be, however, a tendency toward overprotectiveness within the collective and opposition to the outside world. The person must understand that a collective can develop successfully only if it cares not only for itself but also for the external world. With friends, this person is insightful, emotionally vulnerable, yet proud; on the other hand, while ignoring minor annoyances they may cause, outright betrayal will not be forgiven, and all past memories and affections will be torn from the heart. He will have few friends, but contact with them will be deep; there is a tendency toward manipulation and hypnosis, which, however, in a not overly afflicted chart, usually manifests in acceptable ways.
