Critic. This person perceives the affairs of a collective very sharply and emotionally, especially any of its imperfections, shortcomings, and unfinished tasks. He dislikes when dirt is swept under the rug, but even more so he dislikes empty chatter. Therefore, when he starts speaking, his criticism sounds serious and weighty, though likely too emotional: he can “get carried away,” especially with a strong Scorpio, and stir up the entire collective, forcing it to reconsider many views, including long-held ones. He can demonstrate intolerance toward many positions that everyone has grown accustomed to and no longer sees as abnormal. If Scorpio is afflicted, many of the person’s views on life and the collective’s shortcomings will diverge from the group’s general opinion, and the criticism may seem (and indeed be) overly harsh, destructive, and unfair. The group may easily label the person as a troublemaker, though his words will contain more truth than the group would like. Here, the work involves finding common ground with the group and softening one’s emotionality; if this is not done, the person may become a victim of their own disharmonious behavior: the group will corner them and meet even the most harmless (in their view) activity with preemptive aggression. A harmonious Scorpio provides an accurate picture of the situation, and, most importantly, a socially accepted group will say: “He precisely expressed what we all had been feeling, and moreover, he offered an excellent solution!” A harmonious Scorpio, especially at the level of the eagle, may, however, have a tendency toward excessive control within the collective and an opposition to the outside world. He must understand that a collective can develop successfully only if it cares not only for itself but also for the external world. With friends, this person will be perceptive, emotionally vulnerable, but proud; on the other hand, ignoring minor annoyances they bring, he will not forgive outright betrayal and will erase all past memories and affections from his heart. He will have few friends, but the connection with them will be deep; a tendency toward manipulation and hypnosis, which, however, with an unharmed chart, usually manifests in acceptable ways.

With friends, he behaves perceptively and cautiously but is emotionally vulnerable and proud. He conceals his resentment and only at home, in solitude, gives vent to his feelings. He does not forgive betrayal and, in such a case, severs the relationship without hesitation. Dissatisfaction and caution often hinder success in life. Prefers the company of famous and wealthy people, avoids those below him in material and social status. In society, he tries to remain unnoticed, observing what is happening from the sidelines, rarely intervening in conversations. Never gives advice without being asked, dislikes praise and compliments directed at him. He is somewhat gloomy and pessimistic, pointing out future dangers, though he is usually not listened to—even though he is later proven right. If a crime occurs nearby, he is usually the first to be suspected.
