A wise man fearlessly observes the boiling of passions, protecting people from themselves. This position of the 4th house gives stable life positions. At a low level, nihilistic-destructive ones: “The world only needs to be destroyed as quickly as possible.” This person is internally ruthless. The most humane of his attitudes sounds something like: “shoot him so he doesn’t suffer,” with emphasis on the first word. If the person is generally inclined toward constructive activity, they suppress such attitudes deep into the subconscious, but they poison his life and, moreover, sometimes surface unexpectedly, sometimes in a form sharp even for himself and his environment, for example, in unmotivated emotional aggression or a sudden outburst of misfortune in someone else’s grief. If the 4th house is afflicted, such attitudes can destroy the psyche, and then it is worth trying to trace their deep motivation and one’s own true life positions and attempt to at least partially correct them, bringing them into minimal agreement with the specific external life goals set by the practical and constructive Taurus (10th house). Working through transforms the tarantula into a gray lizard. In this state, a person’s true life positions remain a mystery even to himself, yet they are still not constructive. Only in the phase of the eagle (and in transition to the 3rd level of processing the 4th house) does a person arrive at the ideas of protection and constructive transformation—of the surrounding world and of oneself. Religious feelings here are strong and intensely emotional, and the person has no atheistic doubts; in this style, at levels 1–2 of processing, the person’s life positions are sometimes affirmed by direct violence against others. The person tends to guard his home (except at the lowest level). Everything he dislikes will be stubbornly thrown out; moreover, rearranging and changing furniture will sometimes be an imperative necessity for him. The same, in principle, applies to a wife (husband); at least, the husband should not stagnate in his development. Children, fortunately, always change with age, and this is a good field for applying Scorpio’s efforts. There may be an accentuation of emotional and sexual spheres of interest, especially with a strong Scorpio; sexual failures with a marital partner are experienced very acutely.
