A vortex of chaos. With Cancer afflicted, major changes, borderline states, and stresses will evoke in a person a sense of mystical horror and a feeling of inability to protect oneself and cope with emotions and experiences rising from the depths of the subconscious. Here, the level of self-awareness is usually low. After getting married or switching to a new job, a person must simply take some time to come to their senses while their psyche itself rebuilds (with harmonious aspects of the 8th house, this happens quite successfully), adapting to the new conditions. The result is usually unexpected for everyone, including the person themselves. With Cancer afflicted, phobias related to any major changes are likely, as well as an extremely negative attitude toward them: Cancer clings tenaciously to existing conditions (though, once ready for change, it usually throws itself into them with full determination). A person experiences crises deeply and emotionally, though they are not inclined to discuss them openly. It is difficult to understand them, partly because they are connected not so much with purely psychological issues as with spiritual problems, and only by resolving the latter can the crisis be overcome (details will be shown by the aspects of the 8th house). At the same time, this position gives tenacity to lower subconscious programs, from which it will not be easy to free oneself; they will leave along with a part of the soul that feels as though it is bleeding—at least, that is how the person will feel. The collective and its concerns are perceived very personally and emotionally, which, however, may be combined with an outright desire for social parasitism. Yet, in difficult moments for the collective, it will force the person to do what is necessary, touching a deep patriotic string within them. In a harmonious variant, this is a tender, caring father who tunes the collective to a wave of compassion and pity for the fallen. In a negative variant, it may be a cunning manipulator who skillfully steers public opinion in the desired direction. This position of the 8th house gives a natural mystic who perceives the subtle plane as a world inhabited by living beings. A person has a tendency toward mediumship, meditation with strong emotional involvement, which can resemble a powerful narcotic, with all the consequences that follow.
