Mars biquintile: The beaten are not struck: people walk over them and wipe their feet. This aspect imparts activity and energy in the areas of the Planet, directed toward interaction with lower forms of life. Affliction to Mars will make this energy destructive, though the person may not notice this immediately and may sincerely believe that everything emanating from them toward lower life is beneficial (although it, being foolish and ungrateful, often fails to understand this and attempts to protest). If the Planet is also afflicted, the person may become a tormentor of lower life, such as a cruel governor (a more prosaic example, for instance, with Mars-Mercury biquintile—a strict schoolteacher who suppresses any expression of students’ lives and is aggressively dissatisfied with their knowledge in their subject). In the harmonious variant, this aspect allows one to easily find an appropriate way to engage with the issues of lower forms of life and, with minimal effort, gain substantial dividends; however, one should not speculate on this, otherwise the opportunities for expressing and developing humanity within oneself will be irreversibly lost. Proper integration enables energetic and skillful participation in the development of imperfect life, while simultaneously allowing the individual to evolve, gaining the ability to soften their own lower aggressive subconscious programs by channeling energy in a more refined and constructive manner. Pluto biquintile: A person’s spiritual level is determined by the amount of conscience they have managed to awaken within the epoch. In its well-integrated form, this aspect grants the individual the ability to effectively engage with complex issues of lower life; for them, it appears as a bearer of fate, something inevitable, implacable, yet ultimately fair and guiding them in the right direction. In the harmonious variant, the person easily perceives the inadequacies and weaknesses of lower life forms in the Planet’s spheres and finds the least painful ways to eliminate them. Nevertheless, certain disappointments and irreversible losses await, as some lower forms cannot withstand criticism and (karmically) must be completely eradicated—a reality that may be difficult to accept, since these forms resonate within their subconscious, and the death of external life forms destroys something within themselves. When Pluto is afflicted, this process can be extremely painful, and the individual may become embittered, emotionally detaching themselves from lower life and its problems, as a result becoming its merciless persecutor, seeing in it only evil deserving ruthless annihilation; in doing so, however, they destroy the human element within themselves, placing themselves in service to a cruel egregore and losing free will. Here, integration proceeds through careful study of lower life forms with full respect for the laws of their development and their inherent ethics; only after this can the individual understand and love lower life forms, perceiving them as kindred, so that any surgical intervention becomes healing and humane.
