Saturn’s biquintile: Either a person is ahead of their time, or time treads upon them with its grey foot. This aspect gives a subconscious desire to deeply understand the lower forms of life in the spheres of the Planet and to take meaningful part in them, through which the individual may express their humanism. However, initially, especially if Saturn is afflicted, the person perceives lower life in a very primitive way and engages with it in an extremely awkward manner, which may create a complex of inferiority or, conversely, awaken sadistic tendencies from the depths of the subconscious. In areas of the inner world that resonate with the problems of lower life, the person will feel vulnerable, and it is fortunate if they extend this sense of vulnerability to lower life itself. Generally speaking, this sensitivity is inherent at first, but over the course of life it may be repressed into the subconscious, and then compassion often transforms into pronounced cruelty—though in this case, such cruelty is more an exception than the rule. The process of integration proceeds through deep study of lower forms of life and a careful, unhurried search for adequate contact and interaction with them; temptations will include frustrations due to the slowness of this process, overly rigid and primitive notions about life and oneself, and outwardly cruel behavior, which should gradually give way to gentle, though restrained, human expressions. At a high level, wisdom and profound human self-expression are achieved. Pluto’s biquintile: A person’s spiritual level is determined by the amount of conscience they have managed to awaken in their era. In its well-integrated form, this aspect gives the individual the ability to effectively participate in complex issues concerning lower forms of life; for them, it appears as a bearer of fate, something inevitable and unrelenting, yet ultimately fair and guiding them in the right direction. In the harmonious variant, the person easily perceives the inadequacies and weaknesses of lower life forms in the Planet’s spheres and finds the least painful ways to eliminate them. However, certain disappointments and irreversible losses await them, since some lower forms cannot withstand criticism and (karmically) must be completely eliminated—a reality they may find difficult to accept, as these forms resonate within their subconscious, and the death of external life forms destroys something within themselves. When Pluto is afflicted, this process can be extremely painful, and the individual may become embittered, emotionally detaching themselves from lower life and its problems, as a result becoming its merciless persecutor, seeing in it only evil deserving ruthless annihilation; in doing so, however, they destroy the human element within themselves, placing themselves in service to a cruel egregore and losing free will. The process of integration here proceeds through careful study of lower life forms with full respect for the laws of their development and their inherent ethics; only after this can the individual understand and love the lower life forms, perceiving them as akin to themselves, so that any surgical intervention becomes healing and humane.
