The Moon square creates significant inner difficulties related to the planetary principle, especially in its perception. For example, the Moon-Mars square produces a sense of external world’s brutality and aggression in situations where there is no actual provocation, and conversely, the person may be aggressive and harsh without noticing it. The Moon square makes ego programs related to the planet clearly visible: the person strongly desires to selfishly consume the planet’s principle, but circumstances in outer and inner life are such that this fails, resulting in severe frustration, resentment toward the world, feelings of deprivation, etc. Everything constantly goes wrong for this person, and the more he pities himself, the worse it gets. The karmic meaning of this square, however, does not lie in straightforward asceticism or denial of the planet’s principle (which may sometimes lead to illness), but in careful and thorough study of the corresponding planetary programs of the subconscious, identifying their egocentric and evolutionarily constructive components, and establishing an adequate diet: the problem of the square is to fully assimilate, by directing inward, the planet’s vibrations, which the person handles poorly, or, if the Moon is significantly stronger than the planet, results in strong profanation of the latter. For example, the Moon-Venus square may turn a person into a ruthless consumer of the opposite sex, who is subconsciously perceived (at least in love) as fundamentally primitive and coarse, and developing respect (i.e. a habit preventing conscious and subconscious profanation) toward the opposite sex becomes essential. Until the person realizes this, he will repeatedly face severe sacrifices and a fate that will pursue him to the extent that he himself provokes it—whether subconsciously or consciously, intentionally or accidentally, from good or bad motives. An essential point is that in the planet’s domain, the person possesses something like a magnifying glass that brightly reveals his own (and others’) smallest imperfections and errors. If the square is in the fixed cross, these may be minor dead ends constantly replacing one another, behind which, however, one large, perpetually recurring deadlock can be discerned. The Chiron square indicates a karmic demand to view the planet and its associated problems in a nonstandard way, particularly by seeking their source in one’s own imperfection, disharmony in the interaction of subconscious programs, and adherence to social stereotypes—Chiron always overcomes these, and in the case of a square, does so most intensely. The Chiron square does not allow the individual in these areas to follow conventional views and stereotypes: they quickly lead action into a blind alley, unleashing incredible chaos, behind which something stands, though its nature remains unclear. At a moderate level, the person may develop a black humor attitude, which is better than panic but still not constructive. Here, the individual must examine themselves, understand the role of the planetary principle in their inner and outer life, and do something constructive from Chiron’s perspective—that is, materialize certain subtle plans related to the planet. This usually appears as a materialized miracle, but one that can be taught to others. At a high level, this aspect brings breakthroughs into great creativity within the planet’s domains and the ability to uncover original talents in others, but also a persistent sense of dissatisfaction—both with one’s own methods and specific achievements—as if someone behind the person, with unveiled mockery escalating into outright derision, keeps saying to them: “And?” At a low level, the individual may set as their goal the discrediting of any creative expressions of the planetary principle and may achieve a certain degree of success in this, especially regarding themselves personally.
