Mars quincunx: The power of evil is evident; the power of good can be judged by the indirect sign that evil has not yet triumphed completely. This aspect creates in the areas of the planet a problem of interaction between energy on earthly and cosmic vibrations; at a low level, a person will often lack earthly forms of energy, while cosmic energies are poorly mastered, resulting in certain breakdowns. For example, the Mars-Moon quincunx may give the talent of a healer masked by abilities in ordinary linear massage, which, however, the person will perform in a somewhat unusual way—particularly, their hands in critical situations will move almost by themselves, provided they are able to trust them. The latter, however, is not at all simple, since the subconscious (both personal and collective) usually does not trust intuition, let alone movements accompanied by unusual energetic vibrations. The Mars quincunx raises in the planet’s spheres the issue of the level of active energy, meaning, in particular, the necessity of precisely choosing its forms and no less precise control over one’s inner energetics, since the quincunx emphasizes the cosmic unacceptability of coarse emotional states and mere instinctual energy expressions. For instance, with the Venus-Mars quincunx, relatively crude but socially quite adequate expressions of love will appear absolutely unacceptable to the person from a cosmic perspective, about which the Cosmos will inform them sometimes through rather peculiar methods; but sooner or later, the person will become convinced that in love they must be very, very cautious—and celebrated, yet not overly cautious, but celebrated. When properly worked through, which primarily requires viewing the beloved as a spiritual being, the person will prove capable of very intimate, subtle, and deep relationships and interactions. Chiron quincunx: One should wash one’s hands before playing with words. This aspect gives in the planet’s spheres a peculiar sense of humor with a cosmic undertone; indeed, simply viewing earthly relationships from a cosmic perspective provides ample cause for genuine laughter (or equally genuine tears). At a low level, the aspect will manifest as the person constantly shifting in the planet’s spheres between earthly and cosmic viewpoints and back again, throwing their psyche into chaos and turning constructive progress into wandering through blind alleys; true, each such episode will be brief, but the person fails to find a satisfactory behavioral strategy, and most importantly, cannot understand the meaning of the difficulties arising, their general origin, and cause. The karmic task of this aspect is to discover in the planet’s spheres an unexpected way of perception that reconciles cosmic and earthly karma, after which previously blocked developmental paths, long considered dead ends, will open up. For example, the Chiron-Pluto quincunx, when properly worked through, enables finding a channel of cosmic purification acceptable from the standpoint of earthly karma—that is, comparatively painless and not creating great tension or karmic knots—but for this, the person must first attain such a level of mastery over their subconscious and its purity as Pluto requires. At a moderate level, this quincunx produces black humor with a cosmic tint and an overall background of utter hopelessness, which one must learn to overcome and transform in order to avoid falling into the dead end of nihilistic black teaching.
