Sun quintile: As the Lord awakens life within a person, He cares not only for the individual. Initiatives arising in the areas of the Planet will attract through their freshness and novelty, proving especially valuable in situations of stagnation and inertia (it is important, however, to understand that these initiatives may not necessarily arise in the Planet’s spheres, since the quintile is a minor aspect). If the Sun is afflicted, these initiatives will clash too strongly with established stereotypes, and the person, encountering prevailing resistance from the environment, may sincerely suffer, feeling how their life and sincerity are being extracted and trampled underfoot—though usually with substantial cause: they are either inadequately perceived by the environment or directly opposed by it. A harmonious Sun, on the contrary, brings exceptionally attractive expressions in the Planet’s spheres, and life itself seems to smile upon the individual; their initiatives become interesting to others, and they are able, if they wish, to revitalize the planetary areas in other people and circumstances—though this will meet with great difficulties if the Planet is afflicted. If both the Sun and the Planet are well-placed, and harmonious aspects are not fully developed, they may ultimately dry out the vitality of the quintile through laziness and boredom; the frustration of the quintile will then place vitality as a condition of survival, giving the person the strongest impulse for its activation and development. Venus quintile: When there is no love in life, there is no life at all. This aspect brings liveliness to social contacts and aesthetic preferences in the Planet’s spheres, as well as spontaneity in love. In these areas, the person will be literally suffocated by routine and backwardness, which are typical for society as a whole; thus, even a minor affliction of Venus will create difficulties in social interactions: on one hand, liveliness and spontaneity in others will attract them, while on the other, their own expressions may appear less vibrant and more awkward. A strong affliction of Venus may lead to psychological blocks and complete refusal of any spontaneous behavior. At a low level, the Venus quintile produces a socially stereotyped attitude toward expressions of life in oneself and others, along with a tendency to parasitize on such expressions in social situations of the external world—especially if the person has low energy levels. Examples include many educators who feed (often with sadistic elements) on the emotions and direct energetic expressions of children and adolescents; similarly, lower-octave art critics play an analogous role, representing parasitic life. Harmonious aspects of the quintile bring affection from others due to natural liveliness of expression and creative impulses in the Planet’s spheres, though these are realized only through careful development.
