Moon in Taurus

Het Monster: Moon in Taurus — All my things are in their place — Do not disturb the order. Don’t come when I’m not expecting you — surprises and haste bring me trouble. Of all the signs, the Moon in Taurus will need the most sense of reliability. To feel emotionally “connected,” this child must know there are certain things they can count on—such as you. They need a parent who is like a “granite cliff,” always present and meeting expectations. If you are unreliable or unpredictable, you may disturb their usually steady sense of self. A lack of stability in relationships or environment may provoke some form of compensation—overeating, an increased interest in acquiring material possessions, or something similar. Practically all children go through a “security object” phase, but this child may develop two or three special comfort rituals of their own. (Recall from chapter three my story about Molly’s pacifier, thumb-sucking, and hair-twirling.) If you try to remove these too early, they will likely cling to them even more. Or they might pout: “You don’t love me.” Don’t rush this child. Don’t hurry them unless absolutely necessary. Establish a schedule or routine that both of you follow and that they can depend on. Let them know in advance if you need to leave, and explain who will meet their needs and how. Try not to create too many surprises unless you’re certain they’ll be pleasant ones. Hold and cuddle them more often and for longer periods when they’re very young. As they grow older, try to set aside special quiet time before bed when you can sit together and read a book. If you work and time with your child is limited, make sure they know what to expect, where you are, and when you’ll return. Quality of time is more important than quantity. When you’re with them, try to match your pace to their pace. Your child will reward your affection, calmness, trust, and reliability by becoming a loving, gentle, and loyal companion you can always count on.

Indubala. Planets in Signs (Indian Tradition)

Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus; it is the sign where the Moon reaches exaltation, its full strength. Being in this earth sign, the Moon bestows a controlled, moderate, steady, and practical nature. Under Venus’s rulership, the Moon indicates an inclination toward wealth, or else a pleasing appearance, or an affinity for beauty, nature, and sensual pleasures. The Moon in its strongest sign grants these individuals fine qualities inherited from their mothers, strong intellect, good concentration, and steadfastness in pursuing goals. They are determined and may become stubborn or prone to intense anger. They are stable, upright, and make good citizens or loyal followers of any cause. Slightly lazy, yet one can be confident they will fulfill their share of responsibility. They are reliable and frugal. They progress slowly toward success and enjoy prosperity in the second half of life. They love music and fine food. They may be well-built or somewhat plump. They function best in familiar surroundings and situations where they are not rushed or pressured; thus, they favor rural areas and quiet, solitary places. Sometimes old-fashioned. Usually of moderate build, pleasant appearance, and prominent facial features. They are generous toward those they love. The ancient text Brihat Jataka states they will be people of “beautiful appearance, broad hips, generous in giving gifts, able to endure misfortunes; will have greater influence and authority over others; will have more daughters than sons, will be patient, fond of the opposite sex, and deeply attached to their friends.” Other sources say that individuals with the Moon in Taurus are serious, thoughtful, observant, receptive, and prudent. They think independently, but must be cautious not to be overly influenced by their emotions. They achieve success in occupations related to the earth and its products.

The Moon here is “a guest” with nocturnal Venus and in exaltation, in the sign of the Earth element. Under this condition, you are most likely to be calm and phlegmatic, with a very stable emotional world. You are also steady, peaceful, slow, and reflective, responding appropriately to external stimuli. Clearly, you are sensitive to your material environment and comfort, reacting strongly to harmony and disharmony in your relationships with the surrounding world. This may manifest primarily in your attitude toward the material world, emotional relationships with other people, as well as in a beautiful harmony with nature. In life, you usually unconsciously tune in and first perceive situations that are calm, slowly developing, stable—those that allow you to relax and rest, to accumulate and feel comfortable. And in any life situation, these components are what you perceive first. Any situation is always broader than what we perceive; we always interact only with a part of it. Thus, we constantly build a relationship between our inner world and the situation, and what we perceive and see first is determined by the Moon in signs. It is not necessary that a situation which seems absolutely certain to you is perceived in the same way by another person. Here, you need to somewhat distance yourself from subjective perception when conducting such an analysis. In other words, every situation is multidimensional, and each person forces it to line up according to their own perception program. Therefore, your perception may be somewhat slowed down, while your emotional response remains balanced and stable. It is generally believed that the Moon in Taurus indicates a stable, healthy psyche, although it’s not that simple—on one hand, there is initial stability, but on the other, if a crack appears, you may prove poorly adapted to new circumstances. Paradoxically, statistically, among people suffering from schizophrenia, there are more with the Moon in Taurus than with the Moon in Cancer and Pisces. This is difficult to understand at first glance, since it is commonly believed that Cancer and Pisces are the most prone to schizophrenia. Apparently, the situation occurs when a person accustomed to stereotypical, stable conditions suddenly finds themselves in an unexpected discomfort and suffers a more severe breakdown. After all, any strength usually has its limits. Moreover, your unconscious reactions develop relatively slowly, so you generally tend toward patience and take a long time to get moving before taking action. You may not even particularly enjoy doing anything, since any action requires expending energy, while Taurus is associated with accumulation and relaxation—so without necessity, you probably won’t budge from your place. Most likely, you enjoy a cozy atmosphere, for example, sitting in an armchair by the fireplace with a good meal. This might be one of your most comfortable situations. At the same time, you may have quite prominent and active planets in your horoscope, including, for example, Mars. Then in your life you must act actively, yet you strongly desire warmth, fullness, and comfort, wanting to be surrounded by pleasant, harmonious things—perhaps not refined, but visually agreeable.

Medical contraindications: Your most vulnerable areas are the throat, thyroid gland, and the entire endocrine system, pharynx, and throat. You may have already experienced surgeries on the neck or throat. Additionally, this Moon placement often leads to lung, bronchial, chest, blood, and nervous system disorders, as well as frequent neuralgic pains in the arms. Generally, it should be noted that if undergoing morphoscopic body correction (i.e., surgery to alter external appearance), one should carefully ensure that the body part being corrected does not correspond to the sign where the transiting Moon is located. For example, if the transiting Moon is in Taurus, you should not remove moles from the neck. When the Moon is in Taurus, the throat is highly stressed, and there is increased sensitivity to food products, so you should not eat carelessly. However, fasting is also not advisable—you should consume good food and follow a proper diet. Additionally, you should avoid unnecessary interference with the endocrine organs and glands of internal secretion.

A person needs material security: only then do they feel well. These are focused individuals who skillfully and realistically manage their financial and domestic affairs. They have a natural gift with plants. To begin a new endeavor, they require external motivation. But once started, they work persistently; they won’t take on a new task before finishing the previous one. They enjoy eating and seek comfort. With poor aspects to the Moon, emotional inertia can reach the point of laziness and an overwhelming focus on material pleasures.

Catherine Haugue. Astrological Dictionary

Sensitivity is strong, yet combined with heightened receptivity and passivity. Directness in love for all things natural and simple. A strong attraction to nature and beauty. Especially acute perceptions through the senses and sentimental experiences. In a woman’s chart—exaggeration of traditional feminine values. For a man, the ideal woman is faithful and sensual, with a deep attachment to the family hearth.

Larisa Nazarova. Karmic Astrology

The Moon in an Earth sign. Brings the person stability against external influences. The ability to control one’s behavior. Inability to adapt. The subconscious focused in the material sphere. The Moon in Taurus—in exaltation. The person is calm, phlegmatic, reflective, and responds adequately to external impulses. For such a person, good food, soft furniture, carpets—everything substantial—is important. A distinctive trait is the fear of getting caught under the tracks of troubles. Any loss is a catastrophe.

Avesalom Podvodny. Planets in the Zodiac Signs

The Moon feels better in feminine signs; in Taurus, it also culminates and begins, so to speak, to think highly of itself. It gives a temptation toward an overly refined instinctive sense of form and an extreme degree of preference for what is already familiar and habitual. Here, Taurus-like laziness and resistance reach their peak, governed by the principle: “Better a well-known evil than an unknown good.” Moreover, the lower programs of the subconscious easily focus attention on primitive sensations of form (and simply on primitive forms) and do not wish to work or perceive (not to mention creating) more subtle and complex ones. The lunar Taurus (especially harmonious) will say to anyone with utterly impenetrable, mocking superiority: “Well, you’re digging deep”—and reliably drown the most subtle thought and highest impulse in their own swamp (in the latter case, the phrase “Well, brother, you’re an enthusiast” works perfectly, with the same intonation). The lunar Taurus is extraordinarily heavy internally—yet equally stubborn and reliable. With them, you feel, especially in material matters, as if behind a stone wall—and the same sensation of a stone wall arises when attempting to change something in their subconscious. In the higher octave, this Moon placement enables very subtle yet responsible work with forms.

Francesca Sakoyan. Planets in the Zodiac Signs

With a balanced temperament and an aversion to conflict, you are not someone easily provoked. Heightened emotional sensitivity is not typical for you. You have a calming effect on more nervous and emotionally excitable people, possessing emotional stability that reassures those around you. As a gentle person, you are not easily triggered into outbursts, yet you are extremely stubborn and will resist any changes that demand a shift in your mindset (including changes in family life or marital relationships). In love, you seek a devoted partner with whom you don’t have to feel anxious or worry about the future. You are deeply loyal to those you love, creating for them an atmosphere of warmth and care. However, you tend to play it safe, avoid altering the status quo, and often try to dissuade others from making changes. To feel truly at ease, you need physical expressions of love—being hugged, kissed, and caressed; closeness and the ability to touch someone dear to you are essential. You are prone to crossing the line into indulgence in comfort and sensual pleasures. Sometimes, when emotional comfort and affection are lacking, you may substitute them with something delicious. There is a strong need for material security and a stable family situation. You have an appreciation for art and singing, a natural talent for working with plants, and generally good relations with your mother. There may also be tendencies toward laziness, indulgence, and sensuality. A predisposition to sore throats and tonsillitis.

Charm, prudence, reliability, politeness, calmness, and generosity of spirit. This is the Moon’s most favorable position (exaltation), making people calm and gentle, very pleasant in communication, and naturally drawing others to them—Moon in Taurus inspires trust. Such individuals appear reliable, even if they do not inherently possess this quality. They are given every opportunity to express their emotional depth. The Moon’s sound judgment in material-oriented Taurus makes this placement favorable for philosophy (Descartes, Spinoza, Owen, Rousseau, Novalis, Feuerbach, Marx, Jung) as well as for literary activity (Gorky, Ostrovsky, Sholem Aleichem, Shaw, Jack London). As one can observe, life’s realities and material truth take precedence in the works of these writers. At the same time, the Moon in exaltation also reveals its lyrical side (Akhmatova, Tsvetaeva, Zhukovsky), often concealing even a sentimental nature. Yet, a sense of reality usually prevails over poetry. The Moon in Taurus loves nature, and all living things submit to and enchant it. Its sense of beauty is closely tied to the sensation of primordial, natural life. It grants women talent for handicrafts and compels men to appreciate handmade and traditional things. Home is the center of life—it must be beautiful and cozy. A city dweller with the Moon in Taurus should be advised to walk outdoors frequently and take regular trips outside the city: their emotional sphere needs relaxation in order to be fully ready to absorb life once again. No better rest could be found.
