Mars Opposition Saturn

Mars – Saturn Opposition

(Transit Mars → Natal Saturn)

Various sources for the child’s horoscope

Your child has endurance and prudence. They may display selfishness and need to learn to align their will with that of others. It is difficult for them to express feelings of anger or irritation, which can lead to physical and emotional issues. Suppressed anger may erupt like a volcano. If parents (often the father) forbid the child from asserting themselves, this can block the free process of mutual understanding between them. As they grow older, they may feel shy about sexual matters and experience guilt. They need to be told that sexual feelings are a natural part of the maturing process.

Het Monster. Aspects

Tyranny. They think they have been overlooked. They demonstrate their superiority through violent, aggressive actions to mask their inferiority complex. Poor relationships with parents, especially the father. The desire for a good position “through force” encounters obstacles or becomes the victim of similar behavior from others. Problems with joint finances. Often unfriendly and unhelpful to others, which is why others also do not help them.

Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary

Opposition, square: a person feels helpless, loses strength, withdraws into themselves or succumbs to laziness and idleness, and experiences bouts of despair. There may be emotional indifference, a tendency toward violence or masochism. This can sometimes manifest in mild forms of manic-depressive psychosis, alternating surges of energy and fatigue, apathy—depending on which planet dominates: Mars or Saturn.

Mars opposition: Having overcome an external enemy, watch how it becomes internal; having subdued the internal one, observe how it externalizes. The principle of the planet in opposition to Mars is constantly subjected to a forceful influence, and it is quite difficult for a person to establish interaction with this force. If the main emphasis is on the planet and the person somewhat identifies with its principle, the external environment quickly becomes aggressive and begins to strongly interfere. If they start actively resisting it, they quickly get used to fighting and, forgetting their original plans, re-emphasize the opposition, as a result of which Mars becomes internally accented, and the principle of the planet loses its significance for the person, transferring to the external world and taking on the role of an enemy, as described by the well-known aphorism, “What we fought for.” For example, in the case of a Mars–Saturn opposition, one cannot fight for discipline; one can only try to be disciplined with the least effort, otherwise such a struggle ends in major troubles, external restrictions (the lower octave of Saturn), and the triumph of inner chaos. Here, the problem often lies in the fact that a person feels strength only in the external manifestations of the planet’s principle but tends to fight against it. Having defeated and internalized the planet, they completely lose their strength, and the most painful and incomprehensible moments are precisely the imperceptible turning points of the opposition. Working through it gives stable strength to the manifestations of the planet, including those vibrations that it needs, granting the person great self-confidence and the ability to balance even the most acute and tense situations (related to the principle of the planet and the houses where it and Mars are located, as well as the aspects of these planets). At a low level, and especially when Mars is afflicted by its opposition, it can produce destructive aggression in both the person and their surroundings. In such cases, it should be remembered that the instability of the opposition—i.e., the frequent uncontrolled shift in emphasis between the planets—indicates poor working through of the aspect, while systematic efforts to track and consciously manage it are the most effective means of achieving stability and harmony with oneself and the world.

Saturn opposition: A person clearly hears the voice of reason, but it is unpleasant to them. An opposition of a planet to Saturn highlights the issue of inner discipline and external restrictions in the areas related to it. In general, a major aspect of a planet to Saturn creates a deep desire to thoroughly understand its principle, which is initially presented to the person in a highly frozen and unworked form. For the opposition, resistance to working through and deep study of the planet’s principle is characteristic, manifesting in the fact that as soon as a person gathers internally, focuses, and begins to carefully examine the issue, it immediately becomes hollow, flat, and completely uninteresting. Unworked Saturn kills any life in any matter it touches, and in this case, that life goes outward, meaning the planet’s principle unexpectedly manifests in the external world and seems unattainable. As a result, the person develops a false impression that the planet’s principle is completely inaccessible to them—something that can be endured in the case of Pluto but is much more difficult with Venus or the Moon, potentially leading to frustration, neuroses, and complete emotional rigidity. On the other hand, attempts to emphasize the planet’s principle and identify with it are often accompanied by complete disregard for Saturn’s principle—that is, deep and thorough inner work—while simultaneously strengthening Saturn’s rigid limitations in the areas governed by the planet. Here, karma demands that the person establish a very clear interaction between the principles of the planet and those of Saturn, meaning necessary self-restraint and precision in the chosen direction. With poor working through and especially careless forceful approaches—which Saturn does not tolerate—the planet can literally become stuck at a dead point (meaning its principle is completely frozen by Saturn’s lower octave), and it will be very difficult to extricate it; working through Neptune and Pluto, as well as harmonious influences from Jupiter or Chiron, can help. At a high level, this opposition grants extraordinary precision, depth, and effectiveness in the manifestations of the planet, as well as greater stability in the areas it governs, thanks to wisdom and foresight.

Frances Sakoian. Aspects

Tyranny. They think they have been overlooked, demonstrating their heroism or superiority through violent, aggressive actions to suppress their inferiority complex. The desire to take the initiative encounters resistance from others (Mars rules the 1st house, while Saturn culminates in the 7th). Professional dreams are dashed by unfortunate circumstances or powerful figures. Poor relationships with parents, especially the father, because the father is a tyrant (Mars culminates in Capricorn, where Saturn is the ruler). The desire for a good position through destructive means encounters obstacles and resistance. Or they become victims of similar behavior from others. Problems with joint finances and public funds lead to strained relations. They are often unfriendly and unhelpful, and others have no intention of helping them either. In extreme cases: cruelty, criminality, involvement in military affairs.

S.V. Shestopalov. Aspects of Planets

The most dangerous aspect in the horoscope. The impulse to act and consciousness are in contradiction; great carelessness, a tendency to get into dangerous or conflict situations; risk of accidents; stubbornness, intransigence, a tendency toward arguments and contradictions; constant dissatisfaction and ambition. A big appetite, sometimes “wolfish”; cruelty and harshness, anger, hatred, and rudeness may be present. Vulgarity, bullying, and boorishness. In women, it can lead to spinsterhood. Positive manifestations of this aspect may include the ability to act quickly and decisively in dangerous situations. It is also an aspect of dangerous professions—stunt performers, firefighters. Children with this aspect in their horoscope are advised to engage in sports and training, which can help avoid dangers, though even in sports there is a risk of injury.
